“Alli, it’s Ranie and Eli.” She heard Ranie call through the door.
Alli stood there looking at the pile of furniture she had stacked in front of the door before falling asleep last night. She wanted to believe that Jason couldn’t escape, but she couldn’t sleep without putting up the extra barrier. She cursed herself silently as she started dragging away the table and chairs in the way.
“Um, hold on.” She called out to them. By the time she had cleared the door she was huffing from the effort. She tried to take a deep breath and control her breathing as she opened the door.
