Eli bent down, scooping her up into his arms. She wrapped her legs around his waist and held onto his neck.
“What are you doing?” She managed between her tears.
“We’re going for a swim. Let the waves calm you.”
Alli wanted to argue but it felt so nice being held in his arms. She clung to him as he moved further into the water. He took her out into the water where they moved gently with the rise and fall of each passing wave, watching them crest and crash closer to shore. Her tears finally stopped as she concentrated on the feeling of Eli pressed against her and the peace it brought her. She wasn’t alone. She had this amazing man helping her through everything.
“Feeling better, gorgeous?” He brushed her hair from her face as she smiled at his new term of endearment.
“Yes, thank you.”
