Harper was sitting on the couch, her arms crossed over her chest as she glared at Landon.
"You've wasted my entire weekend," she accused.
Landon raised his eyebrows, a smirk spreading across his face.
"What could possibly be more important than me?" he asked.
Harper rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the twitch of her lips.
"I have things to do," she said. "Important things."
Landon chuckled and walked over to her, kneeling down in front of her.
"Like what?" he asked, his hands coming to rest on her thighs.
Harper sighed, trying to fight the heat that was building in her chest.
"Like work," she said, her voice softening.
Landon leaned in closer, his eyes darkening.
"I can think of much better things to do on a Sunday evening," he said, his voice low and husky.
Harper's heart skipped a beat as she looked into his eyes. She knew exactly what he was thinking.
Landon pressed his body against hers, his hands roaming over her curves.
"You know you want this," he whispered, his breath hot against her ear.
Harper's resolve melted away as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You're insatiable," she murmured.
Landon chuckled, his hands sliding up her sides until they were cupping her breasts.
"You love it," he said, his fingers teasing her through the fabric of her shirt.
Harper moaned, her head falling back as she gave herself over to the sensations coursing through her body.
Landon pressed his lips to the hollow of her throat, trailing kisses down the side of her body.
"You're mine," he whispered, his voice filled with possessiveness.
Harper's body was on fire, her mind consumed with thoughts of him. She wanted him, needed him, and there was no denying it.
Landon lifted her off the couch, carrying her to the bedroom. He promised her that this was just a taste of what was to come, his eyes dark with desire as he claimed her body and soul.
............................................................................
Harper pulled the sheets around her, making sure they covered her body as she snuggled deeper into the bed. She felt Landon's warm breath on the back of her neck, sending shivers down her spine. Despite her attempts to stay focused on the conversation she was about to have with him, she couldn't help but be distracted by his roaming hands.
She smacked his hands away, not wanting to be sidetracked by his playful advances.
"Landon, what are you doing here?" Harper asked, trying to keep the frustration from creeping into her voice.
Landon chuckled, propping himself up on his elbow and facing her.
"I'm here because I couldn't stay away from you, Harper. You're all I can think about." He placed a gentle kiss on her shoulder, causing Harper to shiver.
"Landon, you're not answering my question," Harper said, her voice firm. "What are you doing here?"
Landon sighed as he snaked his arm around Harper pulling her on top of him.
"You seem to have forgotten that you were mine and that we hadn't broken up. A little warning on your permanent bonding with the witch would have been nice," Landon stares at her with something in his gaze that she can't quite read. It's a startling reminder of the capricious fae that Landon is, something that slipped Harper's mind every now and then.
Seeing Landon's gaze wander down her body, Harper realised that the sheets had fallen down as she had balanced herself on Landon's chest, leaving her naked for his viewing.
"So let me get this straight," she said, trying to clarify and hold onto her composure, "You heard I was engaged to Alexander and you just decided to come back into my life?"
Harper sighed, looking at him with a mixture of confusion and longing, "I don't understand, Landon. You left and now you're back. What changed?"
Landon's eyes burned into her. He was done with the small talk, done with the teasing and the touching. He was here to make a point, to let Harper know once and for all that she was his.
"Harper," he growled, "you are mine."
Her eyes widened in surprise and a little bit of fear. She had never seen this side of Landon before, this darker fae nature that was coming to the surface.
"Landon, what are you talking about?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"I heard about this Alexander, your betrothed. I had to come see for myself what kind of man would dare to claim you as his own," Landon continued, his voice low and dangerous. "I met him, you know. Interesting witch, but not my type. However, he might be a useful ally to have. But make no mistake, Harper, you are mine."
Harper's heart was pounding in her chest. She had never seen Landon like this before, never felt so vulnerable and exposed.
"Landon, you can't just come in here and stake your claim on me like this. I have a life, a future, that doesn't include you," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Oh, I know that, Harper. I know all about your plans, your future with Alexander. And I approve. It'll be interesting, to say the least, to see the two of you bond together. But don't forget, Harper, at the end of the day, you belong to me."
"Landon, I don't belong to anyone," Harper said, her voice rising in anger.
"Oh, but you do, Harper. You do. And you always will," Landon said, his eyes dark with desire and possessiveness. "You are mine, Harper, and I will do everything in my power to make sure you remember that."
Harper was stunned into silence, her mind racing. She had never imagined that Landon would feel this way about her, this possessive, dark need to stake his claim.
"Landon," she finally said, her voice trailing off, unsure of how to continue, before his words sank in and her eyes snapped back to his.
"You've met Alexander?" Harper asked, surprised.
Landon gave her a sly grin, "I was hunting down and slaughtering the rest of Jasper's following, and I stumbled upon Alexander doing the same. We got to talking and he mentioned that he was betrothed to a witch named Harper."
Harper's eyes widened as she listened to Landon's recount of his meeting with Alexander.
"Really?" Harper asked, her voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and intrigue.
Landon nodded, his eyes shining with a fierce determination.
"Yes. Alexander is a powerful witch and I can see why he was able to take down Jasper's following so effectively. I respect his skills and his determination to protect his own."
Harper leaned back, processing Landon's words. She knew that Landon was possessive and territorial, but she had never seen this side of him before. He was almost respectful of Alexander.
"What does that mean for us?" Harper asked, her voice filled with uncertainty.
Landon looked at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of desire and possessiveness.
"It means that I am here to claim you as mine, Harper. You are mine, and I will do anything to protect you."
Harper felt a shiver run down her spine as she listened to Landon's words. She knew that he meant every word he said, and she was both scared and exhilarated by the intensity in his eyes.
"And what about Alexander?" Harper asked, her voice soft.
Landon's eyes softened as he looked at her, "Alexander is a powerful ally to have, Harper. And I have no doubt that we will work well together in protecting what is ours."
Harper couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort at Landon's words. She knew that he was fiercely possessive, but she also knew that he was fiercely loyal to those he cared about. She could see that he was willing to work with Alexander to protect her, and that was a side of him that she loved.
Landon leaned in, capturing her lips in a searing kiss. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as he deepened the kiss. When he finally pulled away, he looked into her eyes, his own filled with a sense of possessiveness and desire.
Landon leaned in, his eyes dark with desire, "You are mine, my lovely Harper, and I will do whatever it takes to keep you by my side."
"You don't have to say anything, Harper. Just know that I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere," Landon said, his eyes never leaving hers, "I'll be watching over you, protecting you, and making sure that you remember that you are mine."
And with that, he leaned in and claimed her lips with his, kissing her deeply and passionately, as if to reinforce his point. Harper was lost in the moment, her mind and body consumed by the heat of Landon's touch. She knew that this was going to be a long, complicated road.
