The Demon

Harper and Aria sat across from each other, deep in discussion as they strategized on how to scare off Aria's blind date. Aria was a little nervous about the idea, but Harper assured her that everything would be okay. "We could try to create a little bit of chaos," Harper suggested. "A small explosion, maybe. Or we could call in a few reinforcements and make it look like a big group of angry earth sprites are on the way." Aria looked unsure, but nodded nonetheless. They continued to brainstorm until they finally settled on a plan. Harper excused herself to make a few phone calls and gather the supplies they needed. As she was making her way back to the table, Harper suddenly paused. She felt a strange energy in the air, something off and unsettling. She quickly scanned the area, trying to pinpoint the source of the feeling. It was coming from somewhere nearby, but she couldn't see anything. Returning to Aria, she smiled and said, "Come on. Let's go see if we can scare off that date of yours." ............................................................................ Harper stood in the shadows, observing Aria's date from a distance. She had set up the explosion for Aria's date, and now she was waiting for the right moment to execute it. The date seemed to be going well, as Aria's date smiled and laughed at something Aria said. But Harper was also on the lookout for the strange magic she had sensed earlier. She kept her senses alert, ready to react if the magic showed up again. She was nervous, knowing that she was playing with fire. Suddenly, Aria's date looked up at the sky. Harper saw her chance and lit the fuse. There was a loud explosion in the sky, followed by a shower of sparks. Aria's date jumped back, looking around in confusion. Aria quickly took advantage of the situation and started to create chaos, using her earth magic to cause the ground to shake. Harper watched as Aria's date stumbled, trying to regain their balance. The date then looked at Aria, stammered something about being unsuitable for each other, and quickly left the scene. Harper let out a sigh of relief. She had successfully pulled off the chaos, and Aria's date was gone. But just as she was about to relax, she felt the strange magic again. It was stronger now, and Harper knew that she had to be careful. Harper made her way towards Aria, who was standing by the edge of the park. Aria smiled at Harper as she approached, looking relieved and grateful. "That was amazing, Harper," Aria said. "You really saved the day." "I'm just glad it all worked out," Harper replied with a grin. "Is there anything else you need help with?" "No, I think I'm good," Aria said. "I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me." "It's all part of the job," Harper said with a shrug. "Take care of yourself, Aria. And good luck with everything." "Thank you," Aria said, her eyes shining with emotion. "You're the best." With a final wave, Harper turned and walked away, leaving Aria behind. As Harper walked away from Aria, her thoughts were still focused on the strange magic she had felt earlier. She knew she couldn't ignore it, not with her intuition telling her that it was something dangerous. She tried to follow the trail of magic, using her senses to guide her. She walked through the busy streets, dodging people and cars as she made her way towards the source of the magic. It was becoming stronger and she knew she was getting close. Suddenly, she heard a low growl, followed by a crash. Harper quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her chest. As she turned a corner, she found herself face to face with a massive, dark figure. It was a demon, its eyes glowing red as it snarled at her. Harper stood her ground, drawing on her magic. She could feel it flowing through her, ready to be used if necessary. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice strong and steady. The demon bared its teeth, its eyes narrowing. "I've come for the power," it said, its voice low and menacing. "And you're going to give it to me." Harper raised her hand, a bright light appearing in her palm. "I don't think so," she said, and with a flick of her wrist, she sent the demon flying back. As the demon disappeared into the shadows, Harper took a deep breath, her heart racing. She had always known that being a witch came with dangers, but she had never expected to be face to face with a demon. She took one more deep breath and then turned to make her way back to the safety of her office. ............................................................................ Demons were not a rare sight in the supernatural world, but they usually stayed in their own realms. However, after a recent war (approximately 2000 years ago) by human standards, travel between realms was restricted. For the demon to attack Harper without the appropriate magic token was not only a violation of the treaty, but it also indicated that it was not high ranking enough to not need one. Harper sat at her desk, surrounded by stacks of papers and files, and took a deep breath as she began to fill out the necessary paperwork to report the demon encounter to the ruling council of the supernatural world. She knew this was an important task, as demons were rare visitors in the world and their presence could mean major implications for the stability of the supernatural community. As she filled out the form, she thought about the urgency of the situation and how important it was to report the incident accurately. She carefully documented the details of the encounter, including the demon's appearance and the magical signature it left behind. Once she had completed the paperwork, she leaned back in her chair and rubbed her temples, feeling the stress of the day catch up with her. She then sighed and picked up the phone to call her coven mother, Selena, to update her on the situation.
