As Harper stepped out onto the terrace, she couldn't help but feel torn. On one hand, she was still incredibly attracted to Landon and the way he was flirting with her and being intimate with her was making her heart race. On the other hand, she was confused and frustrated that he was acting like they never broke up.
She had thought that their break up was a mutual decision, but now he was acting like it was just a temporary separation. It made her question everything she thought she knew about their relationship and their feelings for each other.
Harper's thoughts were in a jumbled mess and she didn't know what to do. Part of her wanted to give in to Landon's advances and just enjoy being with him again, but another part of her was scared. Scared of getting hurt again, scared of losing control, and scared of making the wrong choice.
She was torn between her head and her heart, and she wasn't sure which one she should listen to. All she knew was that she was in the middle of a very confusing and emotional situation, and she wasn't sure what the right move was.
The thought of Alexander made her feel guilty. She had made a commitment to him and she didn't want to go back on her word. But at the same time, she couldn't deny her feelings for Landon. He was the man she had once loved with all her heart, and now he was here, acting like nothing had changed.
The situation was further complicated by the fact that she was still recovering from Jasper's attack. She was physically and emotionally exhausted, and she wasn't sure if she was making the right decision.
Harper sighed, running her hands through her hair. This was not how she envisioned her life turning out. She had thought she had it all figured out, but now she felt like she was lost in a maze with no way out.
Landon followed Harper onto the balcony, shirtless and with an easy grin. The warm sun beat down on his bare skin, highlighting every ridge and curve of the muscles in his chest and arms. Harper couldn't help but take in the sight of him, her gaze lingering on the new tattoos that littered his skin. She had never seen them before, and their intricate designs caught her eye. Harper's heart raced as she noticed that there were far more tattoos than the last time she saw him. She couldn't help but feel worried about the number of battles he must have been through to have earned so many tattoos.
"You seem concerned about my tattoos," Landon said, still smiling. "Is there something specific that's bothering you?"
Harper tore her gaze away from the tattoos, turning to face him. "I'm just surprised to see how many you have now. It seems like a lot more than last time I saw you."
Her mind was racing with questions about the tattoos and scars she had noticed on Landon's body. She knew that they were magical symbols, representing victory and dominion in the fae realms. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of battles he had fought and what kind of life he had led since they were last together.
Landon shrugged, his grin widening. "I've had some time to add to my collection."
As they stood there, the tension between them became palpable. Harper could feel the heat of Landon's gaze, and she knew he was aware of her own. He took a step closer to her, his eyes flickering with amusement and something else, something she couldn't quite put her finger on.
"You know," he said, his voice low and seductive. "I've been thinking about stealing a kiss from you."
Harper's breath caught in her throat. She didn't know how to react to this, how to respond to his boldness. She took a step back, but Landon didn't let her retreat too far. He caught her by the waist, pulling her close.
"Relax, lovely," he whispered, his lips brushing against hers. "I just want a taste."
Before she could react, Landon captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Harper was caught off guard by the intensity of the kiss, but she quickly regained her senses and pushed Landon away.
"What are you doing?" she asked, her voice shaking.
Landon grinned mischievously and replied, "What I've wanted to do since the moment I saw you again. You can deny it all you want, but I know you feel it too. The chemistry between us is just as strong as it was before."
"Landon, we broke up," she said firmly, trying to steady her breathing. "I'm seeing someone else now."
Landon's expression was playful and unconcerned. "The more the merrier, I certainly don'thave any qualms against a new lover," he purred, "I'm always down for trying something new with you, Harper."
"Landon, that's not the point," she said, her voice firm. "I can't just pick up where we left off like nothing happened. We ended things for a reason."
Landon's expression turned serious, and he took a step closer to her. "You ended things, Harper," he said. "But I also know that what we have between us is real, and I'm not willing to let it go that easily." He reached out and gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I have no intention of lettingyou slip away."
Harper's heart was pounding in her chest, and she could feel her resolve weakening. She knew that she should stay away from Landon, but she couldn't help feeling drawn to him all over again.
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I'll think about it," she said finally. "But right now, I just need some time to clear my head."
With that, she turned and walked back into the house, leaving Landon standing on the balcony, watching her go.
............................................................................
Landon stepped back inside the room and Harper immediately crossed her arms over her chest, feeling a mix of frustration and anger at Landon's persistence.
"Landon, we need to talk about this," Harper said, her voice firm.
Landon leaned against the door frame, a smirk playing at his lips. "What's there to talk about, lovely? We're sharing a bed, it's not a big deal."
"It is a big deal," Harper countered. "I mean, you have all these guest rooms, why do we need to share a bed?"
"Because, it's better for your recovery," Landon said simply. "Being close to someone helps with the healing process. And besides, I like having you near me."
Harper let out an exasperated sigh. "That's not the point, Landon. We're broken up, remember?"
Landon shrugged. "I never agreed to that. I just agreed to give you space and time. But, I never agreed to break up."
Harper shook her head, feeling a headache starting to form. "You're not making this any easier."
"I'm not trying to make it easy, lovely," Landon said with a mischievous grin. "I'm just being honest about how I feel."
Harper groaned, feeling like she was stuck in a never-ending cycle with Landon. "This isn't a game, Landon."
"I never said it was," Landon said, his tone turning serious. "I just know that I want you and I'll do anything to have you."
Harper met Landon's gaze, feeling a flutter in her chest at the intensity in his eyes. She knew that he meant every word and that made her feel both scared and excited at the same time.
