CHAPTER 14
Author’s POV.
“What?” They all gasped in shock, staring at Khalid intently.
Khalid just sighed and walked towards his seat, with his head bowed.
“What did you just say, your highness?” They asked in unison, and Khalid simply sighed.
“You heard me, she’s my mate!” Khalid groaned annoyingly.
“I can’t believe this, you may have possibly said this just to make her stay here,” One of the Elders said and Khalid clenched his fists tightly.
Khalid stood up and opened his mouth to talk when a maid bathed into the meeting room.
He swiftly faced her, with his eyes blazing with fury!
“What are you doing here?” Khalid asked as he breathed in anger, his fists were clenched tightly.
“I’m sorry your highness, but I came to inform you that Miss Megan has regained consciousness,” She said with her head bowed, and just like a magic, the anger on his face dissipated.
“What did you just say?” Alpha Khalid asked sharply, and the maid kept mute because she knew he had heard her.
“Are you serious about what you just said?” He asked with his eyes wide opened.
“Yes, your highness,” She said with her head bowed.
Immediately, Khalid brushed past the maid and rushed out of the meeting room.
He completely forgot about the meeting he was in with the elders, as the thought of seeing Megan filled his mind.
He walked through the hallway, and walked straight into her room which was wide open, just to see her sitting on the bed.
The maid, who had followed him silently, positioned herself on the door in case he needed her help.
She wore a blank expression, and stared at Alpha Khalid the moment he walked in.
She breathed deeply, her gaze following Alpha Khalid, until he took his seat.
“How are you?” He asked, after a few minutes of awkward silence between them.
“I feel light….” She trailed off, and he raised his brows, starting at her.
“My neck feels light….just like a burden has been removed from my neck,” She added, and he stared at her confusingly.
“What do you mean?” Khalid managed to ask, and she shrugged.
“I don’t understand what’s happening to me, and you seem not to understand too,” Megan began to panic as she said those words.
“Calm down!” He said simply, but she ignored him and began to breathe heavily.
“Megan, please….” Khalid said softly, and that was when she was able to calm down.
Megan sighed deeply, and began to massage her temples in worry.
She suddenly snapped her fingers in the air, the moment she remembered something.
She quickly took a glance at Khalid, and sighed.
“Hey,” She said softly, jolting him out of his thoughts.
He quickly turned to stare at her, and she cleared her throat quietly.
“Please, do you know what must have happened to me?” Megan asked curiously, waiting patiently for a positive answer from Khalid, but to her disappointment, he didn’t give her any response.
“Khalid, please….” She pleaded with a puppy face, and Khalid sighed deeply.
“You have to eat,” He said instead, and Megan rolled her eyes deeply.
“You should know what happened to me, or what’s happening to me because I’m so confused…” Megan trailed off, wishing he could open up to her.
“Get her some food now,” Khalid ordered, and Megan glanced at him to know who he was talking to.
That was when she followed his gaze, and noticed he was talking to the maid who was at the door.
Megan breathed deeply because she wasn’t aware that a maid was at the door for quite some time now.
“I’m not hungry, just answer my question!” Megan groaned.
The maid, who was about to rush and prepare something for Megan to eat, suddenly halted abruptly and stared at them confusingly.
The fact that Khalid wasn’t helping matters by saying something to ease off her frustration was annoying….
Food wasn’t Megan’s problem that moment, but she was sure that he wasn’t going to understand.
“Go and get food for her immediately!” Khalid barked angrily this time around, and that was when the maid rushed out of the room.
“Khalid…please just tell me what had happened to me?” Megan groaned silently.
“What did I turn into before I fainted?”
“Why did I turn into something?”
“Why is all this happening to me?”
All these were the questions she asked him, but Khalid intentionally ignored her.
He would rather not say anything, since he himself was also confused.
Then they stayed in silence, with different thoughts rummaging each other minds.
There was an eerie silence, and that was the moment the maid walked in with the tray of food in her hands.
“Drop it there,” Khalid ordered, pointing at a table which was beside Megan.
Megan quietly watched as the maid served her the food, shivering in fright because of the Alpha’s deadly gaze on her.
After she had served Megan the food, she quickly left and went back to her position, which was at the door.
Megan simply shrugged and picked up the food, scooping a small quantity into her mouth.
She munched on it slowly, enjoying each bit of the food.
It didn’t take time for Megan to be through with the food, and Khalid ordered the maid to clear the place up.
Megan waited patiently for the maid to leave, and she faced Khalid the moment the maid left them.
“Can you answer me now?” Megan asked him, her face brightened as she expected an answer from him.
But to her disappointment, Khalid didn’t respond.
She furrowed her brows, staring at him intently as she waited for an answer.
“Khalid…. I’m waiting for an answer,” Megan said with gritted teeth, but Khalid didn’t respond.
She was beginning to get pissed, but she tried hard to control herself, yet, he didn’t respond.
Megan angrily stood as she faced him, “Khalid, I’m talking to you!” She stated, yet he kept on ignoring him.
She clenched her fists angrily, and breathed heavily.
Megan bit her lips angrily, until she noticed that it bled. She quickly wiped it off , and the moment she saw her blood, her anger increased.
Khalid didn’t notice, as he wasn’t sparing her a glance.
Megan chuckled slyly, and breathed deeply.
She took a few steps as she headed out of the room, when a hand grasped her tightly and dragged her backwards.
In the process, she lost her balance and slipped—But as Khalid tried to help her, their lips met mistakenly….
