Chapter Ten: Strange Horse

1142 Words
~OCTOBER I tried to retrace my steps, but the castle's labyrinthine layout confused me. I found myself lost in a maze of corridors, chambers, and staircases. Every nook and cranny seemed to lead somewhere new and unexplored. I began to feel like a rat in a maze, with no clear way out. The castle was enormous, with so many rooms that it seemed impossible for one person to live there alone. I wondered how Hades managed to find his way around, or if he ever felt lost in his own home. I turned a corner and caught sight of the room. Peering inside, I saw that it was eerily still and quiet. The only sound was the echo of my own footsteps as I cautiously made my way inside. "Hades?" I called out, my voice sounding small and tremulous in the vast emptiness of the castle. There was no response. The room was like a grandiose version of the our own living room, but with an air of regal grandeur and foreboding that made it feel more like a throne room than a place to call home. The space was open and empty, with high ceilings and ornate decorations that seemed to emphasize the vastness of the room. I took my time exploring the room, admiring the dark, Gothic details and feeling a strange sense of wonder. The room was both beautiful and terrifying, like a fairy tale castle that could easily turn into a nightmare. As I looked around, I couldn't help but feel a bit of shame at my own fascination with this place. But I couldn't deny the sense of excitement and curiosity that was growing inside me. Suddenly, I heard footsteps in the hallway outside the room. "He's coming," I bit my lip with a jolt of panic. My heart was racing as I frantically looked around for a place to hide. My eyes darted from corner to corner, searching for any nook or cranny that might conceal me from the approaching footsteps. I finally picked my hide by a corner Hades strode into the room, clearing his throat and surveying the space with a critical eye. I held my breath, hoping that he wouldn't notice the shift in the air, the slight change in the atmosphere that indicated I was there. For a moment, he seemed to hesitate, as if he could sense something out of the ordinary. My heart was pounding in my chest as I waited for him hoping he wouldn't discover my presence. "Come out," Hades commanded, his voice ringing with authority and anger. I took a deep breath, trying to gather my courage, and stepped out from my hiding spot. "Exposed," I thought to myself with a sinking feeling in my stomach. I stood there, frozen in place, as his eyes locked onto mine. I felt like I was sinking into the floor, my body going numb with fear. "What do you think you're doing?" he demanded, his voice booming through the room. I tried to speak, but my words caught in my throat. "I... well... I..." I stammered, struggling to find the right words. "I'm... I'm here to talk to you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I didn't know why I was so afraid of this man, but I couldn't seem to help myself. He shook his head and looked at me for what felt like an eternity. My stomach was full of butterflies, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. 'He is just too handsome even in the dark alley of his room' "Jeffery!" he called out, his voice booming through the room. I held my breath as Jeffery hurried into the room, his footsteps echoing on the stone floor. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I saw that he was walking by the door and not a mirror this time "My lady," Jeffery said, a strange smile on his face as he hurried over to help me out of the room. His smile was almost as if he were nervous, or worried, as if he were in trouble. As he walked me to the door, "But...."Jeffery never looked back at me . "Nevermind"As soon as I was outside, he quickly shut the door behind me and hurried back into the room. I was left standing there, more confused than ever before. I walked back downstairs, my appetite having disappeared. Instead, I was filled with a sense of wonder and curiosity about this castle. I decided to continue exploring, heading back outside to see what else I could discover. As I walked around the grounds, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation, wondering what else I would find. I spotted something out of the corner of my eye, and my heart skipped a beat. It was a horse, but not just any horse. It was huge, towering above the grass as it peacefully grazed. It was unlike any horse I had ever seen before, with a coat of pure white and a mane that glistened in the sunlight. I felt an irresistible urge to touch it, to feel the silky softness of its coat. "I've never seen anything like you," I whispered, my voice filled with wonder and awe. I ran up to the horse and stood by its side, my hand reaching out to touch its soft coat. The horse seemed to sense my presence, but it continued to graze peacefully, as if it were unbothered by my presence. I stood there, completely entranced by this magnificent creature, unable to look away. "Where do you come from?" I asked, knowing that this magnificent horse must belong to Hades. I felt as if I were standing next to a dragon, its sheer size and power was so overwhelming. I had to remind myself that this was just a horse, but it felt like so much more. "May I touch you?" I asked, my hand still reaching out to the horse. It looked so calm and peaceful, a complete contrast to the stormy personality of Hades. I wrinkled my nose, trying to erase the image of Hades from my mind. As I reached out my hand to touch the horse, he suddenly snapped, its head jerking away from me. I felt a flash of panic as I quickly pulled my hand back, a shiver running down my spine. The horse let out a loud, angry neigh, its eyes wild and its powerful legs kicking out in anger. It reared up on its hind legs, towering over me. I could feel its hot breath on my face, and I knew it was ready to attack. I stood frozen in terror, my mind racing as I had no idea how to escape. I was captured by him "It's definitely going to kill me"
