CHAPTER 2

1053 Words
NINA'S POV "Why must she have everything good?!" I fumed, under a dark hoodie in the outskirts of the woods. I was burning inside of me just watching their interaction from a distance. It was cold outdoors this time of morning but I could barely feel it, not because I was wearing a hoodie but because I was a werewolf. My name is Nina and I was out here in the outskirts of the woods on a covert mission. In the distance ahead of me was Margaret's coffee shop, a favorite place for folks to stop by for meals. I didn't care much about the place, rarely going there myself except for a few occasions. I was out here for Arya, the thought of her talking to him as she served him his coffee, made me bite my lower lips anxiously as I breathed heavily. "Why must she always have everything good I desire?" I repeated out loud in frustration to myself. I could feel my hands vibrating uncontrollably from my anxiety, as I brought them out of my hoodie pockets to calm them. The longer he stayed inside the coffee shop with her, the more anxious I got. I had been standing out here in the woods for nearly 20 minutes, watching the coffee shop and he wasn't yet done. "Was he enjoying the place?" "No, she must be trying to charm him with her good looks like she did the others!" I was spiteful, as I slammed my right vibrating hand against a nearby tree in frustration. It hurt slightly but at least it stopped the nervous vibration of my right hand. I was beginning to contemplate something terrible I was going to do to her once he leaves, something she would never forget, something I had never thought of doing before now! Just then, the handsome stranger who had walked into the coffee shop some 20 minutes ago, walked out looking all handsome and cool. His sight alone made my heart skip a beat as I stared helplessly. He was perfect in every way, he was even human! I knew he was the right one, the one I had been searching for, the one for me. I had caught sight of him last night, when he first moved into the city. He was all alone by himself, without a wedding ring on his left hand and without a female by his side. He lived alone too, at the outskirts of the woods. I still didn't know his beautiful name as we haven't formally met. "Damn! That b***h Arya beat me to it!" Remembering he was just coming out of the coffee shop and she was very nosy. She must have told him her name by now and asked him for his. "I'll definitely get you this time Arya, I promise!" I vowed, thinking of the perfect plan I had planned out for her. I was no longer going to play nice, I was going to ruin her perfect life! I watched as he walked to his car, got in and drove off. I watch his car disappear into the edge of the woods. I knew where he lived already and didn't need to go after him. My attention was now fully on Arya, working inside the coffee shop. I was beautiful but Arya was very beautiful. She knew it and most of the people of Oakwood knew it too. She was currently the most beautiful girl in the city and the face of Oakwood but she was doing too much. It meant all the men I liked, she could easily have them, well not this one. Her attention seeking ways were making me jealous of her and I hated her for it. "Time to put a stop to you Arya, if you think you can have my mate for yourself!" I raged, knowing what to do. The handsome stranger wasn't yet mine, I knew next to nothing about him but I had found him first and claimed him for myself as a mate. I had no interest in dating my kind. "I'll have you turned into a werewolf Arya and you will become more appealing to my kind, especially the werewolf gangs!" "You will be unable to control your scent in time and not draw their attention to you. You will definitely be marked by one of the gangs as a mate!" I laughed hysterically. In Oakwood where I lived, humans lived in oblivion of our existence. Werewolves like me, who lived as individuals, tried as much as possible to live as humans. It meant less trouble from the other werewolves that lived in groups; the werewolf gangs. The werewolf packs had fallen over a century ago and what were left of them were werewolf gangs without an alpha or any social hierarchy. In Oakwood there were 3 deadly werewolf gangs - Red Hound, Wolf Hound and Pyrate Dogs. The werewolf gangs were trouble - outlaws, criminals and thugs that were feared and avoided by many. They were the werewolves that were available as mates for a female werewolf and I didn't want that fate for myself. All the other individual werewolves lived with their identities kept a secret like myself and that meant I could live like a human. Arya so far was enjoying her human life and I was about to take all the love and attention she could get from family, friends and strangers. Her life was perfect, with her parents and her younger brother always there for her. Well, I was about to change all that tonight when I transformed her into a werewolf and her beautiful life comes spiralling down into chaos as she struggled to get a grip of her new reality. I walked out slowly from the outskirts of the woods with a smile on my face. Both my hands were in my hoodie pockets as I was walking to get a closer look of Arya in the coffee shop. She was unaware I was outside the coffee shop watching her as she stood behind the counter. "Arya dear, you have a date with me tonight". I whispered with a smile. Today was her last day as a human and the last time she would ever try to steal what was rightfully mine.
