Preparing to Leave

I pulled up to the house after I busy morning. It was rare that I completely sold out. People dont tend to like to take the last of something. Especially if it is during the middle of a typical work day, but today people where just worried about their own dinners and families. It was great for me. Not only did I sell out but I also got a ton of great tips. I counted my income, then left fifty in ones and fives in. Next divided my profits into three jars to go to the bank the next day. The business account, saving and checking. Now it was time to get ready for the night. I jogged up to my bedroom and grabbed a chance of clothes and headed to the bathroom to get in the shower. The warm water relaxed my joints and muscles while smelling like roses relaxed my spirits. Change wasn't one of my strong suits. Graduation made me nervous while most of my friends excited. They were more than happy to tease me about being a home body. Which is kind of true. I pulled on my robe and wrapped my hair in a tshirt towel. I slowly walked back to my room and sat at my vanity. I just looked at my self for a moment before I applied my makeup. My brown hair had gained a few blonde highlights from working in the sun. A even tan was forming on my cheeks but I knew my arms didnt have the tan yet, spring was holding on strong this year. Light foundation with a natural eye with thin liner made my hazel eyes pop, and bold red lip. Quick blow dry then I add a few curls to my hair before pinning half of it up. I pulled on a simple tee shirt dress and a pair of new heels, then grabbed a bow I had made to pin to the back of my graduation cap. I came down stairs and my mom had her camera going already. "Aaaww! my baby is all grown up!" "Sure mom, but I still get to live here the next 5 years at least! You can't get rid of me with forcing this fancy smancy thing called adulthood on me." I snickered and stuck my tongue out at her. She giggled and pulled me in for a hug. "Come on when your dad gets here we need to jump in his truck and head into town." We waited on the porch for a few minutes. Watched as the clouds started turning the blue sky gray. "It is going to rain tonight." I leaned over the railing to get a better look at the clouds rolling in. "Just hope is waits until after we get in the school." "I just hope it is light. You dad just planted some corn in the back forty. It will be a big hit if we have to replant again. It has been a really wet spring." Mom nervously fiddled with the hem of her shirt. "Yeh it was a hard spring. The strawberries hated the wet ground but I think that I finally got the right drainage on them, so I still did okay." "Your dad in pulling in," mom grabbed my arm and pulled me off the porch with her. "Lets get going." I jumped into the backseat while mom hopped into the front. Dad turned to look at me. "Where are we going?" "Mm.. I was thinking the Mexican place." Dad raised his eyebrow at me. "Are you just saying that because it is my favorite or because that is what you actually want?" "I'm saying that because mom and I never fix it, so it sounded good." Dad pondered for a second. "Okay, I'll take it. Let's go." He put the truck in drive and pulled onto the hard road.
