The Awakening of a Soul Reaper

Chapter 22 Tylers Return

Clarise and Emrys walk down the moss-covered overgrown foot path of the zoo towards the enclosure where Willow and James are waiting for them.  “Ah and who is this?” he asks will turning to Clarise when he sees the two teenagers.

“These are my friend they came to help me, why?”

“It’s odd that a reaper would entrust humans with their secret, that’s all” he replies looking at her with a frown on his face.

Clarise jumps down into the enclosure and goes and stand a couple of feet from the mouth of the entrance “he is in there, in the veil, I mean” she says.  I guess I will see you on the other side” she says, she doesn’t want to underestimate him again.  Her aura surrounds her and a cloak befell her in a mere three seconds, she leaps forward and disappears.

Emrys lifts his left hand and makes a big circle movement and steps forward and disappears into the veil.

He meets her where she is waiting for him at the entrance, “so how are we going to do this?” she asks him.

“We need to get this in his mouth, a couple of drops will do however the less he gets in the longer it will take, to take affect” he says taking out a small plastic syringe from his pocket, “I have learned over the years that this is the best way to administer antidotes to unwilling patients” he says winking at her.

They enter the den and as soon as they make their appearance Tyler in his draconian form jumps up hissing at them.  With the syringe clenched in Emrys’s fist with his thumb on the plunger, he goes and stand in an offensive stance.  “Now you move to my right, we will move in slowly and try to overrun him, as soon as I have change, I will inject this into his mouth, but be careful they are very strong and very fast”

They start to circle him; he stands on all fours hissing at both of them.

When they are in about half way of the den het tells her to jump forward on the count of three so his attention is on her and then he will jump from the back surprising him and injecting it into his mouth.

On his three she jumps forward and Tylers attention goes to her he turns his whole body towards her and lifts his one claw and strikes through the air.

Emrys jumps forwards and lands beside his head but, Tyler hits him with his head, turns around while going on his hind legs and slashes towards Emrys forcing him to retreat.  Clarise jumps forward and tries to tackle him but he swings at her and hits her with the backside of his claw, striking her to the ground with force.  She fells sliding on the dirt floor her hood drops from her head revealing her face.  He jumps forward ready to attack her with his claw raised high he stops, and just looks at her.  His black snakelike tongue moving in and out his mouth, his big yellow golden eyes looking at her as if he tries to remember something.  Emrys sees this opportunity and sneaks up on him, he jumps forward and presses the nozzle of the syringe into his mouth and manages to squirt a little in before Tyler slams and drives him into a wall.

Emrys pushes himself and Tyler away from the wall and disappear into nothingness.  Clarise jumps up and jumps through a rift landing in the realm of the living.  She finds Emrys standing over Tyler still in his draconian form, but it seems he is passed out.

“Give it some time” Emrys replies when he notices her.

Tylers body begins to shake, the reptilian scales that shined start to turn a dull brown color and falls to the ground like whelped flower buds.  She can hear his bones in his body braking, it sends shivers down her spine as she sees the bones moving under his skin.  He starts to turn back, she can see his half nude body lying on the ground, she runs and picks up his still deformed head and puts it on her lap.

“You know he could have attacked you, but something inside of him stopped him” Emrys is crouching next to her.

“Will he remember what happened?” she asks looking at Emrys.

“It will be like a dream to him.  The first couple of times that he changes, he won’t have control, he will need to defeat the monster inside of him and overcome it to get control.  Some of them battle and never gain control.  The potion that I gave him subdues the monster inside of him and helps him to regain control” Emrys explains.  “So, he will change again?”

“Unfortunately, yes once the course has taken affect it can’t be lifted, what have been done cannot be undone, he will carry the course of his parents till the day he dies.  If he would like to I would take him under my supervision and train him, you are also welcome to come and train with him, I think there is still a lot that you need to learn”.  She bows her head “Okay, I think that is an excellent idea thank you!”

She looks at his naked body “I didn’t think about clothes!” she turns red in her face blushing.

Emrys kneels takes his backpack and takes out a one-piece overall suit, “I always carry this with me, you never know when you might need it in the forest” he through it over Tylers naked body covering him up.

After lying quietly for a couple of minutes he starts to move, he opens his eyes looking into her eyes “where am I” he asks her trying to sit up straight.  She can see a painful expression on his face, “my whole body is sore it feels like I have been hit by a truck; and why the hell am I naked?” he asks feeling embarrassed and dazed.  He looks at Emrys “And who are you?!” he asks surprised.

“Put on the overalls and I will explain everything to you?” she says standing up and walking out with Emrys by her side.  She finds that Willow and James have climbed down into the enclosure and were siting patiently outside waiting for them.  “Did you manage to get him” asks Willow when she sees them walking out.  “Yes, he is getting dressed” replies Clarise feeling so relieved she can’t help but smile.

The four of them sits outside waiting for Tyler to come out.  He comes stumbling outside covering his eyes from the bright sunlight, “There he is!” Willow yells out excitingly.

Clarise walks over to him taking his arm and leading him towards everyone, “what is the last thing that you can remember?” she asks him

He clenches his eyes shut trying to think, everything feels so hazy, “Well I remembered I followed you to the zoo, and then I saw someone with a hoody or something and then, then, then all I saw was RED with a figure…” he drops his head trying to think.

Clarise makes him conferrable, on a small pieced of broken-down wall, “I want you to understand so please listen carefully.  I’m reaper, I have the ability to manipulate my soul essence to cloak me but also to move into another realm called the veil.  When you followed me to the zoo, you need to know I didn’t know it was you, but when you chased me and you grabbed hold of me, I transferred both of us to the veil.  But apparently you were born with a curse and when I transferred us to the veil, the curse was activated, and you turned into a draconian.  If your body didn’t change you would have surely died.  I’m so sorry I did this to you”

“So your saying my parents cursed me?” he looks at her with pulling his face in a confused way.

“Something that your parents done before you were born” replies Emrys

“Will I change again?” he asks looking forth between Clarise and Emrys.

“Yes, but with training you will be able to control the beast inside of you, and I’m will to train the both of you” replies Emrys going and sitting next to him.

Claris opens her backpack and take out some food for him, “I thought you might be hungry”, she hands him a sandwich that he devours within seconds.  The sit there watching him eat.

“So, what are we going to tell everyone where you have been the last couple of days” asks Willow.

“I haven’t even thought of that, my dad must be worried” Tyler replies staring in front of him.
