Chapter 18 “HEY CARTER,” DANIEL'S VOICE boomed across the front porch, “thought you might want to go fishing this weekend,” he walked up the steps that led to where Carter was sitting. “I’d love that. What time were you thinking?” “Oh, I don’t know, early,” Daniel sat down in a wicker chair and looked out over the property, “It’s strange that this is the same property I live on,” he quipped, “Mom and Dad’s area is so manicured. Mine does good to get mowed every other week.” Carter thought repeatedly over the years that the reason his parents gave them each a plot of land was to keep an eye on them and make sure they stayed in line. When Daniel moved out of the main house, after building his own before he and Joan married, Carter knew the pressure would soon fall on him to do the same.
