Chapter 5

1321 Words
Tarron turns from the table looking towards the door to the dinning hall.  He's quiet for a moment before turning back towards us. "It seems he just finished feeding and will be along his way soon." Tarron addresses Mathew. His eyes are a little glossier as he meets my gaze across the table. I have heard of Vampires using Mindsight before, but never seen it done. Vampires can connect to their coven through a power called Mindsight, it allows them to locate anyone they are connected to and much like shifters it allows them to communicate telepathically. I've heard mindsight allows them to travel in their minds to the  person they are looking for and can actually see everything as if they were walking themselves there.  Tarron is still holding my stare as I see the glossiness fade from his eyes. A small shiver runs down my arm.  Creepy I think to myself , as our food arrives to our table. The rare steak on my plate bleeds into my buttered potatoes and steamed vegetables. The scent wafts up to my nose causing my mouth to water as a waiter moves around the table pouring a deep burgundy wine into our glasses. Tarron is poured  a thicker wine into his. I look at it will a pinch of jealousy.  Grey took the edge off last night, enough to keep my fangs from extending but the desire for blood never goes away, no matter the amount I drink. With  very few knowing my secret I only drink from Grey and have to be careful  how much and often I drink. Lil has offered me to drink from her a few times, every time I've declined. I tell her I'm fine with just Greys blood but the truth is,  Feeding is a very s****l process. Both parties get high on endorphins and  heighten hormones, I've never had a feeding not end in me and Grey either dry humping or f*****g. I watch as Tarron raises the intoxicating liquid to his mouth, his fangs are extended as he takes a large swig from his glass draining half of the Blood wine, leaving red coating his fangs. His eyes meet mine again as he licks his fangs. I turn my attention to Grey he looks at me feeling my discomfort and lowers his mouth down to my ear. "You okay?" He whispers  warming me as his breath moves over my ear and neck. I nodded and give him a small smile as he pulls away. He holds my eyes for a few more moments before moving his hand under the table to my thigh, giving is a small squeeze. I turn my attention back to my food diging into my steak as I listen to the tables conversation avoiding looking at Tarron and his glass. Mathew was talking about the Trails and discussing the promising shifters we have this year, gloating about Grey and the pack betting they would no doubt win, With Donavan throwing in his Fae bets and surprisingly King Coalton  betting on the witches . Money was thrown on the table as The Heirs protested to their father's wagers, Angie and Zelda both apologizing for their Husbands while trying to hush their sons. I was smirking to myself just as Tarron threw money on to the stack and joined in the debate. I grabbed my wine and turned it back emptying my second glass. A waiter already filling it again. I smiled at him and tipped it back to my lips. I could feel eyes on me heating my skin. I looked up over the rim just in time to notice the Vampire from the football field walking across the dining hall.  His black hair was damp and for the most part pushed back aside from a few strands falling into his blue eyes. His face was still unshaven though he had traded his ripped jeans for a pair of black dress pants tucked into his combat boots, he wore a white button up shirt tucked into his pants with the top three buttons undone and his sleeves rolled up exposing his toned forearms. His eyes burn into mine but the cockiness from earlier is gone, and his jaw is set. "Ahh, this must be your nephew " Mathew said to Tarron.. "Indeed, this is Rush the Heir to the Vampires." Tarron answers. Rush. I think to myself as we continue our stare down. "Rush." Tarron said in a warning tone, causing him to turn away. I won this time, but something tells me it won't be our last stare down. I set my empty wine glass down. Waiving off the waiter from giving me another refill. I hear Lil  introducing herself, followed by Donavan , Cole, King Coalton and Zelda . I hear Mathew and Angie share their greeting. Then Grey starts to speak. There is a growl to his voice causing me to look at him, he's locked eye to eye with Rush. "I'm Greyson Heir to the shifters", there is a bite to every word like he's trying to keep his anger under control his right hand is under the table resting on his leg, it is clenched into a tight fist. I reach over and cover it with my hand. He jerks his head to meet my eyes with his. I can see his wolf there fighting with him to be let out. He instantly starts to calm as anyone does when their mate is touching them. Once his fist unclenches he finishes speaking. "And this is my mate Danika ." He says without looking at the Vampire, his eyes still focused on mine. The table is quite, weather it's from them being smart enough not to get in a shifters way when they're  on the verge of shifting or if they're as confused by it as I am. "Hmm." The sound comes from Rush. "Well yes it's nice to meet all of you." His voice is deep and  feels like velvet running over my skin. The feeling is so strong that I look over to him. Just as he is taking his seat across from me. A waiter already filling his glass with Blood Wine. Conversation at the table has picked back up. I stare at the glass across from me. Rush is looking down at his sleeves fixing the roll on on of his arms, I can feel Grey's hand tight on my thigh but he is in conversation with his mother. "Would you like some?" Rush asks me looking up at me  his eyes brighter than a few moments ago. "Excuse me?" I asked him confused by his question. His response is to move his wine glass closer to me across the table. The gesture doesn't go unnoticed by Tarron or Grey as his grip tightens even more. The scent of blood from the wine envelopes my nose causing me to clench my teeth. Rush raises his brow at me, "I don't mind sharing". He says with a smirk on his mouth. His cockiness returning. My eyebrows crease with confusion. Suddenly Grey stands next to me, I look up at him but his head is turned down the table.  "Unfortunately it's getting late and me and Dani are growing tired from all the wine. If you'll excuse us." Grey said turning to me. I stand to meet him with a confused look still on my face as he leans to my ear. "I'm ready for dessert." He growls sending a chill down my spine and causing my eyes to widen slightly, knowing the vampires in the room heard him. "It was nice meeting you all, please excuse us." I say to the table holding Grey's hungry stare. As we pass by Rush, Grey briefly whispers something to him and then continues to walk with me out of the dinning hall and back to his room.
