Chapter 35 Only flickering shadows from the gas lamp greeted Frank as he stepped onto the tiled floor. The table was empty, apart from the overloaded ashtray and a bottle of Havana Club. Frank cursed Brull for not waking him up, but now he was suddenly concerned. Where the hell had he gone? And then he noticed Brull’s Glock was missing from the top of the bookshelf and the chair he had sat in was pulled back as if an imprint of some earlier scene. He wasn’t in the toilet as that was upstairs and he would surely have heard him. Perhaps he was checking the back courtyard?
