I left my awful boss's office, though I could feel his gaze piercing my back. Since he had behaved like a total jerk, I answered the call without caring. After all, he'd already scolded me for bringing him his coffee, so why would it matter if he got on my case for answering the phone? "Hello?" I answered as I took a seat in my desk chair. My stomach growled with hunger because I couldn't afford to buy myself a snack. I really had to survive in the red for two more days before the next paycheck arrived, so I could only eat once a day.
