ZOE Twenty minutes later, I was in the emergency room, my heart still racing. I was pacing up and down the hallway as desperation swallowed my words. I wanted to see my brother, to know he was okay, that I wasn't going to lose him. The nurse pointed me to the waiting area despite my insistence that I needed to go to the intensive care unit. "Wait here, the doctor will come to talk to you. I promise." I sat down and couldn't stop shaking my legs like it was a damn sentence.
