Ace parked the van out front with Loraina by his side. It was just getting dark outside, so he parked far enough away from the store, but close enough to see what was going on inside. Though he had the vampiric gene in him, his hearing wasn’t as sensitive as others, but he could still hear well. He frequently listened to Loraina’s heart beating; a sound that kept him calm all the time. He never stopped listening since they were rarely ever separated. He couldn’t listen in to the small bookstore they told him to watch, but he had other ideas. He had other priorities they gave him when they told him to come do this.
