CHAPTER 6 Darkness surrounds me. There’s no light in the tunnel at all, but somehow my breath is visible drifting from my lips like fog. I stumble, my hands touching the metal door at the end. I make for the handle to pull it open, but then I sense a presence behind me. Suddenly, an intense pain cleaves at my head, as though daggers are being thrust into my skull. My eyes burn, and the image of a man in his early twenties appears in my mind. His skin is smooth and tanned, with a smart goatee touching his chin, but as his eyes lock onto mine, all I see is a void of hate and greed.
