Screams broke out. The men rushed forward, shouting orders. Swords clashed. Guns fired, more shouting, more screaming, more running. Somako was under attack. The attack was fierce, efficient and deadly. Jonet was standing in the middle of the stadium and it looked as she got freeze and didn’t move. She was in an extreme shock as she looked Somako burn.
An attacker looked to take the advantage of this situation and fired a bullet on Jonet. Blake right on time thrown his shield in between the bullets and Jonet and then killed the attacker with his sword.
“Jonet go and help your father.” Blake shouted but she didn’t respond. “Jonet go he needs you.” And again he shouted, but no reactions from Jonet.
Blake quickly went to her and gave her a jerk to pull her out of this day dream. Finally, her dream has broken and she reacted.
“What is this happening?” She asked
“This is not the time to discuss,” Blake said as he was fighting at the same time. “Your father needs you. Right now just go and help him.”
Jonet tried to get her act together and then went on to search her father. King Khari was outnumbered by the attackers, but he was doing a pretty good job in killing the attackers with his legendary sword of Somako. Jonet found her father fighting against so many and tried to go and help him out but her way was blocked by the attackers.
Jonet showed each one of them that why she is the champion of the fallen warrior tournament. No one could match her moves, and then comes the assassin who was as agile as an Olympic gymnast, although he preferred to think of himself as a ninja. He was holding a nuclear gun with both his hands. The gun was so powerful that if someone gets hit by it then he/she has no chance of survival.
The assassin eyed the weapon with bleak grey eyes, the eyes of a hunter framed in the passionless face of an executioner. His blunt hands were steady as they lifted the gun and fired a shot at Jonet.
Jonet defended herself with her shield, but the force of the shot was so high that it blew her away and she fell near the ‘sphere of a fallen warrior’.
“Pull me out.” Jonet heard a voice whispering to her. “Our soul needs to reunite again.” The voice added
This is not the first time Jonet had heard this voice. It all started to happen the day she started to prepare for the tournament. Since then the voices have grown louder and louder inside her mind and currently, it has taken over her mind as she could not hear anything apart from the voices in her head. Jonet could not hold on to her ground and scream as loud as she can.
After looking at her daughter King Khari could not stop himself from running towards Jonet and help her out. The assassin thought that this is the right moment as he found the king off guard, running madly towards his daughter. So he again lifted the gun and fired another shot, but this time in king’s direction.
The whole of Somako has gone quiet for a moment as they saw their king falling to the ground after getting hit right in the middle of his heart. The silence was broken by another scream of Jonet. It was the kind of scream that made your blood run cold. It sounded like a scream of wild panic. A scream of hysteria and disbelief, bordering on terror. It pierced the brain of Jonet and ignited some primaeval pathway. Adrenaline surged through her veins, fight or flight, stand or run, be a hero or a coward. As her fingers curled around the black handle of the dagger her decision was made and it was loud and clear.
She quickly stands up and heard the voice whispered for the last time. “I am there right behind you. Pull me out and together we will revenge your father.”
Jonet did have an idea now about who was trying to speak to her. She turned towards the sphere in the stone and stared at the sphere for few seconds and then she holds the sphere tight.
The sky suddenly became dark as she pulls the sphere out of the stone and low with ominous black clouds and the wind picked up, howling, crying, warning, baying like a wolf into the night. The first of lightning rent the air and within seconds the rolling boom of the thunder reverberated overhead. Soon the rain fell, slow to star, splattering the sidewalks haphazardly. Then it fell as if from buckets, cascading like a waterfall from the heavens. She was holding the sphere high in the air and when she brought it down to the ground the whole of Somako was hit by an earthquake.
Everyone got scared except the assassin who killed her father. He was standing right in front of Jonet, all in confidence and lifting the gun high.
“Don’t cry, girl. You will meet your father soon.” The assassin started mocking Jonet, but she didn’t reply anything.
He fired another shot in her direction and this time she defended herself only with the sphere.
The assassin started to fire more shots one after another and she defended all of them. The expression on the assassin’s face has changed now and he started to move back as she was coming nearer. Assassin started to run away from her as he realizes she is not the same girl anymore whom he faced earlier.
Jonet stands there all quiet and easy. She took her aim and thrown the sphere. The sphere hit the assassin right where the bullet hit her father, right in the middle of his heart.
Every other attacker has already left the Somako as they got what they were looking for. The whole of Somako was in shock and depressed. Jonet was quietly sitting near her father’s body. There were sounds and whispered which says. “The rise of the fallen warrior. The rise of……” the whole of Somako was bowing down to Jonet ‘The Fallen Warrior’.
The Wizard Kingdom
Eva and Rohini went to the wizard kingdom to meet Steven Ashwood as he was one of the most trusted person for Eva. Steven has always stood by her side and it was due to Steven only that Eva was able to convince the council.
Eva and Steven were sitting in the Great Hall along with Rohini and the whole wizard council sitting on their side. A wizard came running from outside.
“There is a message from the Arabian kingdom.” The wizard gasped in horror after reading the message.
“The army of black warriors attacked the Arabian kingdom last night and the attack was one of the most brutal and mass destruction one.” The horror that the writer was witnessing in front of his eyes can be judged easily by the messed up handwriting in the letter. “They easily breached the security shield of the Arabian knights and have killed every single men, women and child they could find and put their hands on and totally removed the existence of the whole of Arabian knights from earth. They have found what they were looking for, the lighting stave and now went on to collect the other two part of the lighting stave. You have to do something really quickly to stop Ovi otherwise the fate of the whole earth will be the same as the Arabian knights.”
They were all quiet sitting and imagining the pain that the Arabian kingdom has suffered and they are going to be next on the list.
“How are we going to stop her?” Zano Savio asked, “None of us stands a chance against her.”
The man is somewhat too tall for his build, was he a few inches shorter he would be all the more handsome for it? Zano was one of the new members of the council and before becoming the council member he was the Protector of the king. His face was mostly obscured by a red scraggly beard that clung to his skin like winter-ravaged ivy tendrils. He meets my gaze not with the shyness of his father but with a blunt refusal to avert his gaze first.
The whole of Wizard community knows that Zano is one of the best master of mystics art and never backs down from a fight whatever the odds may be, he will fight till his last breath, but even Zano is afraid to go to war against Ovi.
“We are going to attack Ovi before she attacks us,” Eva said after a deep thought.
“Are you out of your mind?” Zano shouted and all the others were sitting quietly including the king. “You want us all to walk straight into the lion’s cave, to do what, die.” He added
“It is your choice to come with me or not. I am not ordering just asking. If you want you can, but I am going to fight Ovi whether someone is coming or not.” Eva clearly stated her point.
“I am going to go with Aunt Eva.” A cute little teenager whose name is Liam and sitting next to Steven Ashwood said. “Don’t worry Aunt Eva, I will fight by your side and together we will defeat Ovi.”
Liam Ashwood is the son of Steven Ashwood. He had all the heights of a man, but none of the bulk. There were muscles under his shirt, but not the bulky kind men can get from years of weight lifting. From behind he could be anywhere in his middle teens to late teens, but when he turned that face was all boy. He was lit up with that grin boys wear when they have something mischievous planned. His sandy hair flopped over his eyes in the way no other person in that hall could get away with and on his wrist were bracelets in woven leather. He was going to be fifteen in a day’s time. The whole council including the king and Eva smiled at the courage that he showed, but the best smile was of Rohini as she saw the glimpses of old Rohini in Liam.
“We all will support your Aunt Eva, son.” Steven said, “But Zano is also right we just cannot walk straight onto her face and fight.” He added
“I have a plan and if we will be able to execute that plan then may be we stand a chance to defeat her and for that, I need your support and trust,” Eva said to the council
“You don’t have to worry about that, you will always have the trust and support of the wizard community.” King ends the council by saying this.
After leaving the council hall Eva straight away comes to the lake of imagination. Standing under blue skies, she was enjoying the view which was wondrous to behold, for the lake teemed with life. To the chorus of birdsong from the surrounding green bushes, and the sound of carp sucking amongst the flowering lily-pads, mother duck, watchful for the predatory pike, scooped the surface for food, with her young trailing behind like a row of bobbing corks. Dab chicks and coots fed in the safe haven of the reed-beds, whilst flashing green and blue dragonflies hovered above. The sunset threatening to dip behind the horizon, firstly cascading a prim bombardment of colours that were flung over the sky with terrible alacrity. The receding blue and orange battled the blackness pushing it away with arms. It shone on the lake below shining it's deep depths. The radiant glow scintillated and beamed the legacy of the sun. Steven joins Eva and wonders what she is thinking.
“Do you remember when we were kids your father used to bring both of us here and used to train us certain things?” Eva asked as she is still looking at the sun that is diving under the lake.
“And he used to tell you that you are a nature’s wizard, you can control the natural beauty and have to keep it safe. Yes, I fully remember those days.” Steven said
“If we couldn’t beat her then she will destroy the beauty of the earth. The beauty that I was responsible to keep safe.” Eva wonder
“We are going to defeat Ovi and I am sure about that thing, but before that, I have something to show you, another natural disaster.” Steven took her to the dungeons.
A minor boulder and a small pair of worn statues in a shadowy cliff side in a bleak mountain range mark the entrance to the dungeon. Beyond the boulder and the pair of worn statues lies a large, weary room. It's covered in large bones, crawling insects, roots and rat droppings.
Your torch allows you to see broken cages, torture devices, weapons racks and locked crates, aged butchered busted and devoured by time itself.
Further ahead are three paths, they took the right path. Its twisted trail leads passed countless other pathways, pillaged rooms and soon they enter a grimy area. Rows upon rows of shelves are packed with books or remnants of books. There's a pile of skeletons in the centre, all burned and black. What happened in this place? Eva wonders
They slowly move onwards, deeper into the dungeon's mysteries. They pass a few more rooms and countless passages, some are dead ends, others leads to who knows where, or what, each with their own twists, turns and destinations. They eventually make it to what is likely the final room. A large granite door blocks their path. Strange writing and Countless runes are all over it, somehow untouched by time and the elements. Eva steps closer to inspect it. Steven laughs after seeing the way Eva is behaving and he simply went ahead and touched the door and.. wait.. the door just change its appearance and suddenly the door slowly opens on its own.
As the door is totally open Eva saw a beast that is tied to chains. She cannot believe what she was looking at. The creature was huge and grotesque with hair as white as ice. It stood on its knotted haunches and stooped as its wrinkled face stared at Eva. It gave off an aura of pure hate and evil expressed in its deep blue eyes.
“What are you?” Eva asked the creature “What are you doing on earth?” she kept on asking
“What am I?” The creature gave a snort. “I am a normal human being.” Then he shouted loud and clear. Everyone in the dungeon can hear his voice.
“Since when, human have started to look like this?” Eva said
“Since the blast of Antarctica.” The creature replied “My name is Mark Adams. I work for the NASA and they sent me to the Antartica to find what had happened on that night when that energy hit the earth.” Eva and Steven were quietly listening to his story. “I was leading my team to the search operation and we found out an ice volcano. I and my team climbed that volcano, but I slipped into the volcano and when I regain my consciousness I found myself lying with this body.”
Mark told them everything about what happened that night, about the operation, volcano, how his team died and how he thought that he is dead too.
“When I fall inside the volcano I thought that this is my last moment and I will die today, but it didn’t happen. Moreover, I woke up with a curse. A curse that has changed my whole life.”
“You were reborn with a blessing that night.” Eva said “You have something which no one has. Use these powers of yours to save people. You are a chosen one.”
“But I don’t know how to control and use these powers,” Mark replied
“Don’t worry we will help you with that.” Eva turns her face towards Steven and Steven nodded as he knew what Eva was about to say.
420, Prince Row, Long Beach, Johannesburg, South Africa
Jonet was standing on a rooftop of one of the skyscrapers in the Prince Row Street. Up here, it’s like looking down at the world. You can see the trees, the flowers, children playing in the park and the many busy people going on about the day. Up here it’s like standing on a giant’s back exploring the world with awe.
The street winds blow over the hill like a carelessly discarded belt, grey and cracked with age. On each side, the houses are separated by yards large enough to accommodate farm animals, but this is no rural district. The homes are many times larger than even the biggest of families might need, yet in each are mostly parents with one child. To each dwelling, there are more sports cars than people and kitchens that cost more than our homes, but one can ride his bike down here, enjoying the wide avenues, the leafy green trees and the relative safety now that the security guards patrol.
The tall metal streetlamps cast an artificial glow onto the streets below, illuminating fallen leaves in the garish yellow light. A couple was sitting on a bench under the streetlight, enjoying the wind and the rain. He squeezes her hand, and she smiles at him, dark purple bags only slightly dulling the characteristic glow in her eyes. Her auburn hair has turned an unnatural colour under the cold glow of the moon. They were totally in love and were just enjoying their time.
Today is a rainy day, walking every person with their head down and moving at maximum speed. Those with umbrellas take wider berths of one another, the rest take care to duck when the spokes come their way. The sound of feet on wet paving stones is almost lost against the splashing of the traffic, only the click of high heels still clear. The usual smell of the fumes is dampened by the hazy drops and every face is on the blank- stressed spectrum at 7:30 pm it’s always the same. Jonet was waiting for the time to be right to kick-start her mission. She kept on waiting till it was 11:00 pm. The street was mostly empty and children have gone back to their homes.
“Now it begins,” Jonet whispered after looking at her watch and the street. She holds the rope which was tied to the end of the building and jumped.
A crazy party was going on in the neighbouring house. The music was as loud as thunder; it made the cutlery on the tabletops rattle. The bass thumped in time with their heartbeat as though they were one, filling themselves from head to toe with music. Over the roar of music, a distant, hazy chatter could be heard, but no one couldn’t make out any words and laughter rang in everyone’s ears and wouldn’t seem to stop. The song that was playing got louder, pulling others in and wouldn’t let go.
Suddenly the lights are off for a moment. Everyone inside the house started to scream and shout as they were fully drunk. As the lights were back on they saw a girl standing right in front of their eyes. She felt like some kind of modern-day knight, dressed head to toe in Kevlar. She was better dressed than Batman, all the protection and none of the silly pointed ears or cloak. The armour which she was wearing belongs to her grandfather a bit shiny, but in some places rusted. There were still cuts, scrapes and dents from when it was used by her grandfather. It was never polished but kept in a glass cage, so it wouldn’t rust anymore and finally taken out from the glass cage.
The person sitting right in front of Jonet opens his eyes to the dimly lit room since it is a night time no light is coming from outside. With the movement of one leg, the tell-tale clink of wine bottles rouses the other person sitting next to him and one look at him tells that his head is just as bad. He squints, dry mouth sticky with thick saliva and moans before retreating under the duvet.
“Give the stone back,” Jonet said
“Kiss each one of our ass, then we will give you what you are asking for.” One of them said
Jonet smiled at him and then she took the sphere out and pierced that right through his heart, but slowly as she wanted to enjoy his slow death.
Everyone’s eyes were wide open. All of the people sitting there felt as their hangover is officially over and they are back to work. They quickly take out their guns and every kind of weapons that they could found at that point of time.
They all had their guns pointed towards Jonet and as they were about to shoot her, 2 more warriors enter the room after breaking the windows and straight away started to show some actions. The whole neighbourhood was lit up by the sound of gun fires, but most people are inside their home so nobody knows what is happening.
Everyone in the party is dead except four people Jonet, Cedric the leader of the gangster group and the two more warriors. Jonet and Cedric were looking at each other. There was stillness on both sides. If hatred was visible the air would have been scarlet. Then suddenly there is movement from Jonet’s side, so much force in every blow. Jonet rained blows onto Cedric as if she meant to smash him into the very earth and Cedric tried to do the same but couldn’t. She didn’t just wanted the other dead, she wanted him smashed, obliterated, nothing left to bury.
Finally, she stops and once again asked. “Where is the gem that you stole?”
He was in no shape to tell, but quickly took the gem of earth out from his pocket. The gem which he stole, when they attacked Somako, as the gem was lying ideal on the ground at that time.
Jonet took the stone and ordered the other two warriors to kill him and then clean the whole mess and then she again disappeared into the darkness.
