“Haan, finally it worked, yes I am back home.” Sam breathes heavily but seems happy. “Reve where are you, I am back bro”

“Oh, you are back, and your beard is back too. I thought it takes a month to grow that big of a beard….” Reve seems to be confused

“I was on the planet name Kahuna for the past one year, it was a hell of an adventure there and after a long time too, and now I am happy to be back….”

“Wait, wa.. for a whole year, the last time I checked it was 10 o’clock when you disappeared in the thin air and now it is 10:15, so it is just 15 min, not a whole year.” Reve sneered

“What rubbish are you talking? Tell me you didn't touch my uncle James 1915 Heineken behind my back.” Sam snarled

“No way Sam, Androids don't drink, you stupid human,” Reve shouted

“Hum, so what rubbish were you saying? Don't you remember, I succeed in opening a wormhole a year ago then went inside and it got closed and I got stuck, does it ring some bells now?” Sam asked

“No, no bell is ringing, and for a matter of fact all these things happened just 15 minutes ago not one year.”

Sam is very confused and he could not understand a thing about what Reve had just said. He quickly rushed towards the television, picked the remote and turned on the TV set. He saw the time and date and could not believe on his eyes. Whatever Reve has just said, all of that was true.

“Wait, if I had spent the past whole year on that planet, but no time had elapsed on earth, so that mean….”

The happiness and a huge smile on Sam's face say it all, his eyes lit up and he sat back and let the happiness soak right into his bones. He wanted to feel the moment for as long as he can. He closed his eyes and savoured the moment, and then he started shouting,

“I did it, I traveled the time, which no other physicist could do. I am the TIME TRAVELLER” Sam started to shout and jump up and down in happiness.

“I traveled the….”

“Hey guys what's up” Helen entered the room

Helen appeared in the room with the winter snow billowing around her skirt. Burnt Sienna never looked so beautiful on a woman. With black hair of wool and her head held high, she waltzed on with an effortless saunter. The clicking of her heels added rhythm to the soft classical music that played onward without pause. Her eyes scanned the room with determination in search of someone when her eyes met Sam’s she smiled. So beautiful it was like the stars themselves, decided to rest behind the soft cushion of her lips.

After seeing Helen, Sam badly collapsed. His time traveling memories just disappeared from his head and now it was just Helen in his mind.

“Why were you dancing and jumping in the air,” asked Helen

“D-D-Dancing,” stammered Sam stopped jumping and sat on the couch, “n-no one is d-dancing H-Helen, it is just s-something went i-inside my p-pants”

“Is everything ok with you Sam?” Helen seems worried

“Yeah, e-everything thing is good, c-can’t be better” Sam is unable to collect his thoughts.

“But your dirty and torn clothes are telling a totally different story,” Helen asked

“He is gone made, behaving weird and talking rubbish since he came out of that wormhole.” Reve intervenes

“Wormhole!” said Helen loudly “Sam what is he saying I need to know everything, so are you going to start talking or I start using my tricks”

“I will tell you everything, but you need to sit first. So do you remember about the experiment I was doing for Seoul National University,”

“Oh yes the one in which you have failed 619 times, I do remember, you need to stop that research or it will turn you made….”

“I tried the experiment today for the 620th time and guess what, it worked”

Sam told Helen everything from the start, about how he opened the wormhole, went inside and got stuck, stayed there for a whole year and now against all odds came back to earth.

“See, I told you he is talking rubbish, didn't I” Reve grunted

“Er-- so basically you are saying that you have traveled through time” Helen couldn't understand how to react. “How was it, the same as they show in movies?”

“Mm-- not exactly,” Sam chuckled “It is not that easy, time travel is nothing like it is in science fiction. There are no swirling lights or tunnels, just a pain like you’re being squeezed through something too small for your body. It feels like every bone is being pulverized, every living tissue feels shredded. At first, you can’t remember a thing, not who you are, not why you are there and certainly not wherein the time continuum you are from or currently in. In that day before your memory returns anything can happen, we learned that the hard way. So as long as we don’t accidentally get ourselves in the dangerous environment everything generally works out alright. Of course, there are the exceptions like running around saving your life, fighting monsters, but you come out just fine out of it. You all right, Helen? You are very quiet,”

“Um --” Helen trying to find the words. “Can you take me to the past and future?” She said at last

“Not today, but very soon I will take you in your past,” Sam says gleefully

As soon as Helen left, Sam started to work on finding the way to make the promise he made to Helen come true, and he found out that the entanglement energy can also be found in the earth solar system which can provide the required energy source, so he started to work on his reactor again. With all the knowledge that he gathered on Kahuna, he was trying to make a universal compass that holds the knowledge of every wormhole and directions of the universe. That universal compass will be able to attract the entanglement energy and can store that too, as the species of the Kahuna were able to do. Then the stored energy could be used to open different wormhole and use it to travel time.

He worked day and night for straight 15 days, without any break or rest. Finally he made an attract-inator, that machine can make a magnetic field strong enough to attract the entanglement energy and then divert it to the universal compass connected to the attract-inator and attached to the heart of the machine and centrally located.

“It is ready to be used Reve, the attract-inator is complete, today I will fulfill my promise of taking Helen to her past and then I will propose her there,” Reve grunted to show he was listening, but it was least of his interest.

Sam quickly picks up the phone as he was very eager to give this news to Helen

“tring tri……. Hi. This is Helen, a little busy so can’t answer the phone, but if you are Robert Downey Jr. call my emergency line, otherwise please leave me a message after the beep. Bye”

“Hey, Helen this is Sam, I just called you to say that I have a surprise planned for you today, so be at my place at 8:30 sharp. Bye, see you tonight”

Sam started to daydream about the most unusual date that anyone could have and that too at the weirdest venue that is someone’s past life, only a physicist could think of it. He had already practiced the proposal message for maybe 15 to 20 times, but still having the run through one more time.

“Uhm-Uhm” Sam cleared his throat “By the moon as I sit to seek your glory……”

Reve intervenes and completed the line as even he had mug up the lines by heart.

It is midnight now and Sam will start the experiment very soon. A lot of stainless steel centrifuges, wires, and PCR machines were lying there, ready to be used. Sam was just working with his attract-inator, giving it the final touch before the showdown. The small needle of the big hanging clock in the room has just arrived at number 8 and the larger one has just passed the number 12.

“It is time, Reve. I guess we should start the machine” Sam’s stomach lurched with nerves, he took a deep breath and then start's the reactor again

The reactor starts with a strong sound. A strong magnetic field could be felt nearby the attract-inator. Everything was running smoothly and just then a huge shock wave was sent into the clouds and through the entire city. The magnetic field was so strong that it was changing the gravitational pull of the earth below. At first no-one moves, their brains unable to make sense of the input from their ears and feet. The ground is moving and the noise is like extended thunder only worse because the vibrations are coming from below.

Earthquake, fear overload within the whole city. The emergency siren could be heard everywhere in the city, but no one knew that this is no earthquake.

“It is almost complete, we have reached the level that could attract the entanglement energy” Sam muttered

A bolt of white hot entanglement energy broke the utter blackness, cleaving the night in parts, struck the attract-inator which then got diverted towards the universal compass. The universal compass got powered by the energy and started to process, but the force of the energy was so strong that attract-inator could not handle it and exploded, electrocuting Sam who was holding the universal compass attached to the inator.

Sam’s body lay in the center of the room, his eyes weren’t open and no body part was moving, his breathing would stop for a time only to reemerge like a drowning victim coming up for one last breath. Probably he was dead till now.
