"The Floating Island"

Rohini is looking for Eva as she has to give her a thing that Amber told her to give it only to Eva and not to anyone else. As Rohini scanned the crowd in the whole castle she suddenly realized she could see no sign of her. She ran through the list of places Eva could be, in her mind, checking off the ones she had already searched. She was really tired as she gazed around the city too, but didn’t even have a clue. She started to move amongst the families, her eyes darting more wildly with each passing second, noticing any girl with a glint of red, hoping it was her red cloak. Then she began to call her name, getting ever louder, until many heads were turned in her direction. She had their attention. She might as well use it. “Has anyone seen a girl in a red cloak?” She yelled, her voice almost cracking, “She’s about this high,” she said, gesturing with her hands. The sea of blank faces stared back at her. She asked herself that did she do something wrong. “There you are.” Rohini saw some glimpses of Eva in the market. She was walking with the crowd. “Eva please wait for me. I am coming.” She quietly ran away from the crowd and those staring eyes. “Eva please stop.” Rohini was breathing heavily as she is been running around in search of her since morning and now she has finally found her. “Where were you, I have been looking for you since morning,” Rohini asked. “I went to the dungeons with Steven,” Eva replied “Dungeons! But why, are they punishing you for what you did in the council meeting?” Rohini got tense after hearing the word dungeons. “No, no I went to see a prisoner,” Eva told her “Ok now come with me. I have something to show you. It is very important at least this is what Amber said.” Eva and Rohini went to Rohini’s room. Rohini gave her a pen drive that Amber gave her during the war with Ovi. Eva opened it to see what it contains. It contains the answers to questions which are related to Ovi. The most thought about question in everyone’s mind was that how did she escape the parallel world and Amber gave the answer to it. Eva saw a video which was there inside the pen drive. She saw an energy running wild and trying to enter the parallel world. “What is this energy and who was capable of creating such strong energy which broke the lock of the parallel world,” Eva said as she is shocked after looking at the video. “That thing is standing right behind you and thank you for the compliment. Highly appreciate that.” Someone from behind said Rohini without looking at who is standing there took out her daggers and threw them in the direction of that person, those daggers do not know how but were right back there in her pockets. After seeing such a trick she took out her nun chucks and attacked him, but Eva stopped her mid way. “He can’t do anything to us here don’t worry.” Eva said, “Who are you?” She asked “I am Sam Yong, from Seoul South Korea and that thing you see is done by me,” Sam replied “Do you have any idea of what you have done?” Eva asked “Yes, I do, but not fully only a little bit. I know I have done something horribly wrong and put our lives in danger.” Sam said confidently Rohini after getting to know that it was Sam who opened the gate to the parallel world and released Ovi which ultimately resulted into the death of her best friend Amber could not control her emotion and attacked Sam. She gave her a tight little slap on his left cheek. “This one is for Amber.” “Who is Amber?” He asked “This is for Oliver. This is for Isaac and this one is for everyone who died that day.” The last one was extremely powerful and even Sam took few minutes to recover from that blow. “How did you do that thing with my daggers?” And then she asked. “It is called time travelling dear,” Sam said Eva was just standing there and smiling as even she wanted to do the same thing. Then she asked, “Why did you do that?” “We all have done that in our lives and that is a mistake. I did a mistake.” Sam replied. “I was working on a research project for the Korean University a few months ago and it was about time travelling. I succeeded in cracking the way to travel time. So I did an experiment, but that experiment failed and it almost killed me. I was lucky that Helen was at my home that night and due to her intelligence I survived.” Sam added, but he didn’t tell them that he actually died that night. “Sorry to interrupt, there is one question in my mind. Who is Helen?” Rohini said “Oh yes, I forgot to tell you. She is my girlfriend and I brought her too with me. I hide her there just to check your reactions first and then bring her in.” Sam than bring Helen out of the wormhole. “Hello, guys, nice to meet you both.” Helen smiled and hugged them. “Nice to meet you too,” Eva said first. “That dress looks good on you.” Now it was Rohini “Oh, thank you, if you want I can get you one,” Helen said “If this friendly interaction is over then, may I continue?” Sam asked in a harsh tone “Oh yes, sorry.” All three of them quickly settle down on the bed. “So where was I?” Sam forgets on which part he was. “She brought you back to life.” Rohini said, “Amazing work by the way.” She added looking towards Helen and then Helen gave a thank you smile to Rohini. “Haan, yes, so once she brought me back from the dead I found that everything has changed inside me. I was feeling a new energy was pumping and flowing inside my heart and through my veins.” The brightness on Sam's face tells that how happy he is to tell this story. “It gave me few abilities to. I can travel through time with these abilities. I can generate so much energy within me that it can open any wormhole on demand. So I started to travel through the universe and one day I encountered a black sphere and rest you have seen in that video.” Sam finally took a deep breath and now waiting for their reactions. Rohini had few tears in her eyes and gave a look to Helen which says that aren’t you touched by his story. “I already knew the whole story, so don’t feel like crying right now, but yes I cried the first time.” Helen replied “What’s next now?” Eva said “We find Ovi, take the fire gem back from her and then lock her into the parallel world again.” Sam knew that he is not going to get a good expression for this. “She has the fire gem. How did she get it and when were you going to tell me about that?” Eva shouted and her hands were about to kill Sam, but she controlled her emotions. “I was about to tell you just after I finished my story.” Sam said, “Her monster stole it from the museum where it was kept.” He added “All of you just get ready because we are going on an adventure tour now.” Eva commands everyone. Floating Island Sailing across the “Devil’s Sea of Japan” in the dead of night is either madness or desperation. Everyone had heard the tale of the monstrous waves that could come out of nowhere and smash even a sturdy boat to no more than splinters of wood, everyone had heard descriptions of sea serpents that dwelt beneath the waves, ready to devour lost sailors in the mist, but Rohini, Mark and along with few wizards came on this adventure. “My father would describe sailing as flying over water, dancing over the white crested waves, clearing a path through the wind-whipped water. He would say it was freedom to him, to set sail into the wide blue and leave the duties of the land behind him. He said that the water called to him like a lover and whispered sweet nothings in his ears.” Rohini said to Mark “but sailing is nothing like what my father described. I have just vomited in this whole trip.” She added as she is suffering sea sickness. The sailing boat blossomed right there on the ocean, with sails as pretty as any petals, bluish in compliment to the sky and waves. The rest was all as solid as any oak of the land, warm browns that reminds of home and hearth, of those quiet family evenings when jokes rise and swirl as eddies in water. Her bows met the water with a regal dignity, creating waves of her own, choosing her path with each passing moment. “I never liked sailing. What about you ice monster do you like to sail or not?” Rohini asked Mark “Don’t call me ice monster. I am not a monster.” Mark didn’t look much interested in what Rohini has to say. “Then Pshyfrost did you like this name Pshyfrost. It suits your appearance.” “Why can’t you just call me by my name?” Mark is getting irritated. “We are superheroes and superheroes should have some made up names, like Iron Man, Batman Man etc. Do you know my made up name? It is Dragon Warrior.” Rohini again ran back to the wash room as a large waive again hit the ship which made her feel uncomfortable. “Will we reach the floating island alive or not?” Rohini asked the captain once she came out of the washroom only to go back again. The captain was the most experienced sailor in the whole wizard community. His skin was warm and sun-kissed from long days out on the deck, watching over the crew. He was as bald as he was tall, towering over even the tallest of all by six inches or more. His clothes were bright colours and the finest fabrics money can buy. At his side, he carried a fine sword, a wand and about his neck he wore heavy gold adornments. He certainly looked successful, and not one to be trifled with. He was the best person who could take them safely to the island, if he can not then no one can. “It’s not that we expected plain sailing, or for winds to be kind, the waves to gentle; it’s that we trusted our ship to carry us to shore no matter the weather.” The Captain replied even he was a bit tense as he knew that the devil sea is the most dangerous sea to sail through. On this sea, the sailors tried to prepare for sudden, violent storms, but they knew it was impossible. The worst happened tonight; with no warning, total darkness prevailed as cloud thickened and the sky was stricken, blotting out the moonlight and stars. The wind arose to push the still waters too choppy, which morphed into mountains of angry waves. The four veteran sailors struggled to get the sails down, and to tie them off. They slipped on the rain soaked deck. When the others heard and saw how frightened the sailors were, they panicked. The wind slammed the rain into their faces like tiny stones and pushed their hoods back. The ship pressed, first up waves at forty-five degrees, and then crashed down jarring their bones. At one point the waves spun the vessel sideways. They held tightly onto the mast, onto ropes, onto anything. It was difficult to hang on. A bolt of lightning struck near. “Call the Captain,” someone shouted. They woke him up. “Don’t you care that we are going to die? We need you at the helm.” “Aye, that is true.” A moment later, the Captain walked out into the storm. He took the control of the ship once shouted. “Dying is the day worth living for.” He said as he turns the starring wheel. “Take us out or it will kill us.” Rohini said, looking towards the storm. “No. Further in. We’ll cut across to faster waters.” The captain is taking the ship into the storms “Prepare to broadside.” Another sailor shouted. “She will not harm us.” Captain trying to keep the motivation level high. “Full - bore into the abyss.” He shouted. “More speed haul your wind and hold your water. Don’t be afraid to get wet?” They enter the storm. Few parts of the ship started to fall apart. It was extremely hard to keep hold of the ropes and stay on the deck. After 10 minutes the captain raised his right hand, “Peace, be quiet.” Moonlight, calm sea, stars and sanity retuned. “Congratulation sailors we are out of the storm and in to the floating island which is right infront of you.” Captain said. From the air, Floating Island looked as ridiculously beautiful as the heaven, the colors almost too intense to be true. There was the dazzling blue of the ocean, the immaculate white beaches, the rich, elemental green of the pine trees and rain forest Rohini was really mesmerized by the view of the Floating Island. As she placed one foot out from their wooden boat, and the next foot out, her feet decided to plant itself into the sand. Her eyes felt like it didn’t know how to blink at that moment as she was awe-struck by what her eyes witnessed. In front of her was a place filled with the unending grains of golden sand, as if the whole island was made out of gold itself. Shimmering blue waters that sparkled in the presence of the sunlight encircled the island. Greenery spread out all around the island, with patches of different coloured flowers that grew among bushes occasionally. In a distant, was a majestic waterfall that looked like a sheet of blue velour swishing down, its edges hemmed with whipped-white line. The water thundered down into the pool like a gigantic waterspout. King Andri was standing on the shore and waiting for them. In those difficult times he was the type of king they needed, down to earth and real. He showed everyone what he’d learnt in life- the value of nature and the simple things. He drank water, tea, normal things. He loved gardening, growing vegetables with his children and being in the company of animals. He was humble about his mistakes, obviously scared, but so bold in his will to love deeply. That’s the example that helped their nation on the road to a kind of healing, seeing that they too could make amends by living well, respecting both nature and one another. He was accompanied by the queen Erisa and their two children princess Serena and prince Oscar The queen, in person, is much like the King. In their kingdom they have no ideas such as the queens of our fairytales; their history is one of egalitarianism, strong leaders with a sense of duty, sacrifice and protection. So, she had better role models, athletic women, all capable of taking command. With healthy role models, children learn easily what a lifetime of school cannot teach. They see their queen – a healthy, strong, decision – maker, freely cooperative not subordinate – and they become it too. Surely you know how natural learning works? They do. Princess Serena was also a beauty. She was looking like an angel as she was standing there. A breeze brushed past, teasing the thin strands of her shoulder – length hair. She had the deepest green eyes with a touch of hazel in them. Her lips were carefully tinted red and her skin was flawless. Her silver eyes shone like twin moons in the grand dining hall. Her smile would melt your heart and when she flashed her pearly white teeth, she would light up an entire room. Her voice was every bit as beautiful as her glamour. She wore a form fitting dress of lacey periwinkle and that white dress was tight enough to show her flawless figure. Prince Oscar was just like his father. He had been born on a starlit night, amid the warmth of late summer. Some say it become part of him, that brilliant light from above and cozy feelings remaining from sunshine behind and ahead. I guess I saw that in him, always assured that there was a sparkle in every darkness, behind every cloud. It was as if when coldness came he was the warmth, as if his baby skin took it all in and kept it safe. He had features like a blue – eyed hawk, piercing eyes, narrow nose with a vague hump and hook. The sun at sea had bleached his hair and tanned his skin. Gem was born dark, his hair black and long, held bound in a tail. Pale grey, his eyes were startling, fringed with dark lashes, feathery as a mare’s. His voice had some slowness in it, as if he had all the time in the world to talk, as if the person whom he is talking really mattered to him. One can say that there is no person who ever held him or her in his eyes the way he did, another might need the use of arms, not he. Yet in all that gentle spirit there was a warrior, one who would make any sacrifice to save others, to guard them, pay any price. “On behalf of the whole of the floating island and the knights of Sea, I king Andri welcome you all to this beautiful land.” King Andri looks a bit relief now as the help has arrived at his shores. “Don’t worry now. We are there to protect the walls of the floating island.” The captain says “Where is Eva? Is she coming in the next ship?” King Andri asked as he was curious to know. “She has some other matters to look to. So she didn’t come.” The captain responded “But don’t worry she has sent her most trusted warrior Rohini and Mark. They both are enough for the job.” The captain added “Hello, I am Serena. It is nice to meet you.” Princess Serena greets Rohin. “And my name is Oscar.” “Hi, Serena and Oscar, I am Rohini the dragon warrior and he is Pshyfrost.” Mark instantly made a grunting sound. “He is Mark.” Rohini changed her words “Happy now?” She asked Mark. Who is not looking interested to reply “Oh, so you are the Dragon Warrior. I have heard a lot about you and your dragon.” Princess Serena said. “Will you show us your dragon?” “I am a big fan of these beautiful beasts. Please show us.” Prince Oscar pleaded “Yes, why not. I was waiting to meet someone fun after such a boring trip with him.” Rohini said They reached the main city of the floating island of the beautiful city of Ocemon. The city was floating on a sea, half underwater and half outside. The city was breathtakingly beautiful with old Greek architecture but at the same times the patterns to the streets, to the buildings, was geometrical to the last brick. The statues of gods and goddesses were perfect and the stone lions looked as if they might spring off their perches any moment. Amazing though all that was, it was the glowing that had the watchers most hypnotized. There was no obvious light source, yet when turned the sub lights off they could still make out all the structures in a steady blue light that hung about in the shape of a dome. Rohini steered toward the glow, once she enters the sea water her body lost control and was pulled in quickly. Once inside the glow the city was no longer empty, there were people moving around, dressed either in ancient costume or like some Star-Trek convention wannabe. They weren’t swimming at all, they were walking, breathing air and talking, debating, laughing. They turned toward the sub as it touched down and made small box before carrying on with whatever they were doing before. Rohini had an amazing experience and enjoyed the whole day. Everyone in the city was sleeping. Rohini too was sleeping like a small child and was watching a beautiful dream, a dream that took her back to the rainforest. In the soft light and humid air, she would tune into the noises like they were an auditory jigsaw puzzle. On each conjuring of her sacred place, she felt a frisson of joy, the same kind as she felt when her dog greeted her after a long day, only many times more intense. She had an amazing smile on her face which tells that she was really happy. Then a sound of city bell broke her amazing dream. It was the warning bell of the city that says that the city is under attack. The whole city wakes up from their sleep. Everyone was out in the street. The sound of the bells was frightening. Curled tendrils beckoned the unknowing into to the realm, chaos descended, menace, madness, confusion and panic could be felt by their behaviour. All the warrior were preparing their weapons and started to take their position. Rohini was running towards the castle wall, where all other including Mark were already standing and looking towards Ovi’s fleet. Her fleet, made up of over 1000 ships, comes together under the control of Ovi to embark on the journey to floating island. It was the first time in History that such a fleet had been seen. It covered the sea from East to West, and the ships went far beyond the horizon. “Warriors today is going to be a very big day. An enemy is standing on your gates to take your freedom, to take your sea.” King Andri was addressing his army who was waiting for his command. “Don’t forget that we are the knights of sea, we rule the sea’s and show them that no one can take it from us.”
