I focused on the voice begging me to wake up. I tried, but couldn’t figure out how to do it. I was so thirsty. I licked my lips. That was easy to do, so I tried lifting my hand. I must have done it because Jonathan kissed me hard on the mouth.
Why couldn’t I wake up?
I tried to think back to what had happened when I was like this. The more I tried to remember, the harder it became and the more my head ached.
Finally, I gave up and concentrated on what I did know.
I was in a hospital. The nurses told me where I was and what the date was all day every day. They were trying to orient me, I realized, but it meant nothing to me right then. All I wanted to do was wake up. Wake up and see Axel and Jonathan again. They would tell me what happened.
