Ashamed “Yo, you can stay over my crib tonight.” I nod without looking up. With Jason gone, I hate being home. When Ma’s not working, she usually has people over playing cards, smoking cigarettes, or just being straight up loud, so I just stay in my room. Kenny’s place is no better, but I don’t have many options. “Let me run to the Square and get some things and I’ll be by later,” I tell him. I go to the dollar store.
