THE ACT DECLARING THE INDEPENDENCE OF CARPATHIAN UKRAINE After the end of World War I and the collapse of Austro-Hungary, Trans-carpathia appeared within the state of Czechoslovakia. According to the treaty signed in Saint-Germain on September 10, 1919, Czechoslovakia was to give autonomy to Ukrainian lands.
