Karma knocked on the front door of the unfamiliar house and waited, nervously. She wished she allowed Kacy to come with her instead of turning down his offer.
Her palms were starting to sweat as she heard the locks click. She sighed, somewhat relieved, when Joe opened the door. "Morning Karma, I made breakfast. You hungry?"
"Too nervous to eat" she mumbled as she hugged him and stepped inside. "Where is she?"
"Should be coming down in a bit. Come, have a seat"
Karma followed Joe into the dining room. "You sure she'll be ok with me here and all?" Joe stayed silent. "Does she even know I'm here?"
Again, Joe didn't answer. "Oh no, I'm leaving" Quickly, Karma stood up and raced towards the door but stopped when she heard her name being called by a frail and old voice.
Karma turned around slowly and smiled when she saw Stacy, her mom. Her mom smiled back and unexpectedly, the women hugged each other.
All that over thinking Karma had been doing the past few days were even remembered. The way Karma thought the visit would go and the way it actually started off made her tear up.
"Oh Karma, I miss you baby" her mom cooed as she pulled away from the hug "How are you? You look good"
"I'm good momma and thank you, so do you"
"So I take it, Joe has told you the condition I'm in huh?" Karma slowly nodded "Don't feel bad for me K, I'm gonna be OK"
"Dementia isn't something that can be cured though, ma. Like, I wouldn't be able to take it if one day, I come over and you don't remember me"
"Sweetie, I know but just remember I'd never do something like that on purpose OK? You're my daughter and I'd never forget you. I can't help it, I'm getting old" the women laughed a little and that helped to lighten the mood in the room. "Well come on, let's talk. We need to catch up on a few things"
They walked over to the couch and sat down "How are you and Kacy doing? "
"Great" Karma smiled "I know you don't like him but he makes me happy momma. He treats me right, makes me smile and so much more. He's just perfect"
"Let's not forget he's cute" Stacy added, making Karma laugh "Listen K, I can't say Kacy is my favorite person OK? He's too dangerous in my eyes but if you're happy and he protects you and keep you safe from all dangers, then I'm happy for you both" she said "Has anything happened since y'all been together?"
"Nope" Karma lied. Her mom narrowed her eyes at her and Karma kept a straight face .
"I see you're getting better at lying to me. Usually, you'd be rubbing your hands on your jeans because they'll be sweating" Stacy laughed "Its about time you mastered lying. I was getting tired of always catching you".
"How's daddy been?"
"Married " Stacy mumbled, rolling her eyes "He didn't tell you or invite you to the wedding?"
"No, not at all" Karma said in disbelief. How could her dad go and get married, and not tell her anything about it? As close as they were, she expected something like a heads up "So quick though?"
"Same thing I said but hey, its his life and he's grown"
Across town, Kacy and the guys were over Morgan house while Ash and Kat went out with baby Morgan. They weren't doing much, just sitting down and smoking.
Nobody said much and nobody was really thinking about anything. They were just enjoying the mood.
A knock came at the door and all eyes were on Morgan. He laughed and shook his head, tossing the blunt on Dion's lap.
"Aye b***h" Dion jumped, quickly grabbing the blunt before it burnt him. All Kacy did was laugh and slump over on the couch.
Pulling up his slightly sagging pants, Morgan unlocked the door. One minute, he was opening the door but the next minute, he was being handcuffed and read his rights as he was hauled outside.
"Aye, the f**k going on?" Dion cursed as he was dragged outside.
"Be still and stop resisting" the officer ordered.
"Ain't nobody resisting man, just loosen the cuffs. Them shits tight" the officer slammed Dion on the ground and he grunted in pain.
"Nah man, they ain't have to do that s**t" Kacy mumbled "Let the man up"
"Kacy, I suggest you don't say s**t" The officer laughed behind him. Before Kacy could open his mouth, he too was thrown on the ground with a knee in his back as officers yelled at him.
Its been awhile since Kacy has been thrown to the ground in such a way and its not a feeling he missed. His face was pushed against the grass as he sighed.
A few moments passed and Kacy was lifted up and put into the cop car. He watched as ATF agents rushed in and out of Morgan place.
He didn't have a worry because him, Morgan and Dion never kept anything that wasn't registered to them inside the place they slept.
But in his gut, he knew whatever they found was something bad and could possibly get him locked up. Of course, he wasn't thinking like that but all truth was it could be a reality for him, Dion and Morgan.
