Chapter 5 :New BF

727 Words
I made a quick exit from the noisy ambiance of Liam's party, feeling Natasha's unnerving revelation hammering in my head. That Natasha, the very reason behind Bryce leaving me, now aimed to go back to Liam was news like a runaway train. I could hardly believe it. All that I could wish for now was for Liam not to take Natasha back, knowing how much Natasha had hurt him in the past. Entering Liam's bedroom, where we once shared a passionate night, the door clicked shut behind me. I turned—thinking of Liam—to find Natasha standing there. She was gazing at me—you could not miss the undisguised curiosity and suspicion. "What are you doing here?" Natasha's voice cut like she was very irritated. I tried to speak, but before I could, Liam stood from the bathroom, only wearing a towel hung low on his hips. He filled the room with a body that struck even in the dim light. "What is she doing here?" Her tone softened as Natasha's finger trailed down Liam's chest. "Did you miss me?" I felt like an outsider to my thoughts, surprised. Liam's expression hardened, and he flicked his eyes toward me briefly before coming back onto Natasha with resolve. "Get out," Liam ordered, his tone sharp-cutting the tension. My heart sank at the hurt and confusion, and I started to turn away, but Liam's voice held me up. "Not you," he said, his voice now softening, directed to Natasha. "I'm talking to her, leave." Natasha's face twisted with incredulous anger. "Fine," she spat out venomously. "But I'm back for my baby." Liam's jaw visibly tightened. He met my gaze briefly; sadness clouded my features as I looked away. His voice softened again as he addressed Natasha. "Leave, Natasha." She shot me one last scowl before Natasha stormed out of the room, and then there was awkward silence. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, now not knowing what to do, much less say. Liam let out a deep sigh. He relaxed a bit, turning more fully towards me. "I'm sorry you had to see that," Liam apologized again, and his tone was riddled with regret. I could only bring forth a weak smile, trying to include the turmoil within. "It's okay," I murmured, even though it wasn't. Liam stepped closer to me with concern in his eyes. "I never meant for you to get mixed up with all this," he confessed tenderly. My gaze rose to meet his then. Suddenly, confusing emotions swirled inside of me: confusion, attraction, and maybe a shade of longing. I had to finally break the tension that doubled between us. "What did you want my help for?" Liam's eyes searched mine, then he gingerly rolled to his back, revealing a gash. "It's complicated," he said warily. "I need someone I trust to help me with this." I felt relief wash over me. "Oh, thank goodness," I breathed softly. "I thought it might be something else." Liam nodded, a small smile appearing. "Just some ointment," he explained, handing me a tube. "Could you.?" I took the tube and approached him; now, the room was filled with a very tense silence. I gently applied ointment to his wound, very carefully; my touch was soft and deliberate. The proximity between us seemed to crackle with unspoken words and unresolved feelings. As I worked, my mind raced, trying to find something to say to break that awkward silence. Finally, softly, hesitantly, I spoke. "You know," I started, "that night which we finally spent together. Well, I was drunk, and so I." My words were cut off by Liam; his tone came out very cool, very collected, and at the same time, very resolved. "I wouldn't mind doing that again." I opened my eyes in shock. Liam had this unwritten rule wherein he never slept with the same girl twice. "What do you mean?" I asked, very carefully, as I tried to digest what he'd just said. Liam turned to face me; his eyes were serious and honest. "I want more than just a night," he confessed in a low tone. "I want you for a girlfriend." Boom. My heart leaped with this boldness from Liam. His frankness caught me off guard, yet warmth crept through me. I hadn't expected this turn of events, much less tonight.
