My mind raced as I thought back to what Luther had given me. The potion was bitter and reminded me of burned sunflower seeds. I cringed. The red colouring made the liquid much more appealing than I gave credit for. I shuddered. Still, having vampire powers without being a real vampire had to have some benefits – and it gave me an extra edge if they came knocking; and I’m sure they would. I walked around my room, frowning. I didn’t feel any different. I glanced at the window, scrutinising my reflection. Did I look more pale than usual, or was I always so white? Was I just looking for something that wasn’t there?
