Wedding day.
I woke up at 5am. Nerves. Excited. Scared.
14 weeks pregnant. Baby bump showing under the white robe.
“Are you okay?” Victor asked. He was already in his suit. Black. Perfect.
“Terrified,” I said. “What if Damian comes?”
“Then we’ll kill him,” Victor said simply. “Today is ours.”
300 guests. The biggest pack house garden. White flowers everywhere.
My dress fit perfectly. Hair up. Lace sleeves.
Victor’s mom cried when she saw me. “You’re beautiful, Luna.”
The music started.
I walked down the aisle alone.
Because I didn’t need anyone to give me away anymore.
Victor was waiting at the end. Eyes only for me.
He mouthed: `You’re mine.`
The Alpha priest started talking. About mates. About bonds. About family.
“Do you, Victor, take Luna to be your wife?”
“I do,” Victor said. No hesitation.
“Do you, Luna, take Victor to be your husband?”
“I do.” My voice didn’t shake.
“Then by the power of the Moon Goddess, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Victor kissed me.
The whole pack roared. Howled.
We were married.
---
Reception. Food. Dancing.
I danced with Victor. One hand on my stomach.
“Hey Mrs. Blackwood,” he whispered.
“Hey Mr. Blackwood,” I said back.
That’s when the lights went out.
Complete darkness.
Screams.
“GET DOWN!” Victor yelled.
Gunshots.
Guards moving. Chaos.
Victor threw me to the ground, covering me with his body.
“Damian,” he growled.
A voice in the dark. “Congratulations on the wedding, brother.”
Damian stepped into a spotlight. 10 men behind him.
“I wasn’t invited,” he said. “Rude.”
“Leave. Now,” Victor said. “Before I end you.”
Damian smiled. “I just want one dance with the bride.”
He pulled a knife.
That’s when I felt it.
Heat.
My wolf.
I shifted right there in my wedding dress.
White fur. Blood on the lace.
The guests screamed.
I stood between Damian and Victor.
Growling.
“You want her?” I thought. “Come through me first.”
Damian’s men fired.
Victor moved. Fast.
What happened next was a blur.
Teeth. Claws. Blood.
5 minutes later, it was over.
Damian was on the ground. Bleeding. Alive.
Victor had him by the throat.
“Say one more word,” Victor said. “And I’ll rip your throat out. In front of my wife.”
Damian spat blood. “You’ll never be safe...”
Victor knocked him out cold.
“Arrest him,” Victor ordered his guards.
The lights came back on.
I shifted back. Shaking. Naked. Covered in blood that wasn’t mine.
Victor ran to me. Wrapped me in his jacket.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I promised you a perfect day.”
I touched his face. “It was perfect. Because we won.”
The baby kicked. Hard.
Like she was clapping.
---
Later that night.
Hotel room. Just us.
Victor bandaged my small cuts.
“We’re married,” he said. “For real.”
I nodded. “For real.”
He laid his head on my stomach. “You okay, little one?”
Kick.
Victor laughed. “She says yes.”
He looked up at me. “I love you, Luna Blackwood.”
“I love you too, Alpha.”
Outside, Damian was in jail.
Inside, we were finally free.
The war was over.
And our story was just beginning.
