Chapter 1: The Rejection

The moon was full tonight. Silver light poured over the Blackwood Pack territory, but for me, Luna, there was no warmth in it.

I stood in the center of the pack hall. 200 werewolves were watching. Whispers filled the air like poison.

"That's her. The defective one."

"She has no wolf."

"How dare the Alpha choose her?"

My hands were shaking. In front of me stood Alpha Damian Blackwood. My mate. The most feared CEO Alpha in the country. Cold eyes. Billionaire. Ruthless.

And he was about to reject me. In front of everyone.

"Luna," his voice cut through the hall. Deep. Empty. "I, Alpha Damian Blackwood, reject you as my mate and Luna."

My heart broke. But I didn't cry. Not here. Not in front of them.

Because I knew the truth. He didn't want me. He wanted the company alliance. He wanted my father's shares. And now that my father was dead, I was useless to him.

"Get out," he said. "You're no longer part of this pack."

Two guards grabbed my arms. I didn't fight. Where would I go? I had no wolf to run with. No family. No home.

They dragged me to the pack borders and threw me out into the snow like garbage.

"Don't ever come back, defect," one of them spat.

The gates closed behind me with a loud boom.

Alone.

Cold.

Rejected.

I pulled my thin jacket tighter and started walking. The snow burned my bare feet. My wolf... my wolf never woke up. I was 21 and still human. A disgrace.

Three hours later, I collapsed near a highway. My vision was blurry. Was this it? Was I going to die here?

Headlights.

A black Maybach stopped next to me. The window rolled down.

And there he was.

Not Damian.

This man was different. Older. Sharp suit. Eyes like ice, but interested. Not cruel.

"What happened to you?" he asked.

I couldn't answer. My lips were blue.

He got out and picked me up like I weighed nothing. "You're freezing. Get in."

"I... I have nowhere to go," I whispered.

He looked at me for a long time. Then something dangerous flashed in his eyes.

"Good," he said quietly. "Because I need a Luna. And you, girl... you look rejected enough to be perfect."

The car door closed. And just like that, my life changed forever.

I didn't know it then. But the man who saved me was Victor Kane.
