“Why did you refuse to let any of the parents take their kids home?” Nathan asked once Irish had found someone to locate Amber Reynolds and they were in Dennis Harrison’s office, the nearest place for them to talk without being disturbed.
“I didn’t refuse to let them take their kids home,” Irish said. “They didn’t want to listen to what I said though.”
“What did you say?”
“Just that they had all signed slips giving permission for their children to come on this trip, and that because of those slips, the other teachers and I are responsible for their children until the end of the week. If they want to take their children home now, they need to provide us with a signed document declaring that they are doing so, and that responsibility for their children is being transferred back to them.
