I stood only few harrowing steps away from him, my form shrouded in a haze of blood slicked torment. My ashen skin was pallid, and every painful, rasping breath I took seemed to draw forth another hour of life essence. My once vibrant eyes had lost it's luster, replaced by a hollow, distant stare that seemed to beg for release from this horrible nightmare. The life within me was gradually slipping away. He desperately tried reaching out to me, his hands trembling and shaking with the weight of helplessness.
