MADELINE'S POV -- Silent and invisible-- that's what I am at this dinner table. Atlas' parents are chatting amongst themselves. The rest are mingling and laughing softly over steak and wine. Me-- I'm just sitting here, slowly cutting into food while Atlas and Colton laugh the loudest, talking the most and sometimes, for a few minutes-- they are silent, as if grieving what they had lost all these years. Colton-- thrown out of a pack without knowing why. Raised by rogues. Goddess-- rogues. What had they taught him? Were they kind? Did he suffer by any means? From the way he's acting, I can't tell. I can't see any marks of torture, but his eyes-- ever the kindness in them when he looks at Atlas, but when those cold, sapphire eyes lock with mine-- they are anything but filled with kin
