Dante's POV
My anger was building up inside me, ready to burst out at any moment during the silent pause.
“Tell me.” I said, my voice lower now but still very strong. “Who did this to you, Jane?”
Her lips pressed together tightly. “It's nothing.” she said calmly, but it was annoying. She looked away, not meeting my eyes. “Don't worry about it.”
That wasn't good enough. I took a deep breath, trying to calm down the anger inside me. Yelling at her wasn't going to help me get the answers I needed. “Jane.” I said again, more quietly this time, though my voice still sounded sharp. “I need to know who did this to you.”
“I told you.” she said, biting her tongue, her voice calm but annoyed. “It's none of your business.”
