Episode 8 New Beginning 2 Logan

After talking things through with Mia and Grace, Logan still couldn't figure out Mia's feelings about all of this. She was still acting indifferent like it was no big even though she really had nothing to lose by marrying someone else and just giving them a small percentage of her inheritance so Logan started thinking about why Mia is actually doing this but he just couldn't figure it out so he decided to go with it. To some extent Logan always had a feeling Mia had feelings for him but she never expressed any desire to date him or sleep with him, in fact after they kiss during one of the games at Mia's parties she acted as though Logan had a contagious disease and she couldn't wait to get away from him, so for the love of all that's holy why is she doing this but Logan knew better than to ask as long as he got what he wanted out of this. "Well I guess that's it then, it's getting late and I need to get back to the hotel. I guess we will discuss all the terms of the contract after you get back from London so we can make sure we're on the same page and that this is a fair deal" with that Logan, Mia and Grace walked out of the study. Mia walked over to Christian and snuggle with him on the couch, her head was resting on his shoulder and his hand was around her waist. Logan just didn’t get it was Mia secretly sleeping with Christian because it was quite clear to him Alex had no idea, which pegs the question why did Mia just agree to marry him she could just as easily marry Christian.

After getting to the hotel Logan called his other friend the one who knows were all the bodies are buried, Paul Sutton. "Hey Paul how you doing?" Logan said after Paul answered his phone, "Logan I would say it's a pleasant surprise but I know better" Paul replied with a light Chuckle. "Well what can I say you know me in ways no one else does, so how's business these days? The Colombian's still giving you trouble?" Logan asked Paul, "Come on man you know better than to ask those kinds of questions on the phone, anyone could be listening to this conversation. I'm guessing you are calling about Lexington Software". Logan waited a second before replying because for the first time in his life he felt a little sleazy for enlisting Paul's help but he had to know if Mia was hiding something, "Yes, I guess you heard that Lex kicked the bucket. I'm actually still in Boston but I need you to do some digging on Emilia Drake, Lex's daughter. I need to know everything about her, who she's met with, who her friends are even the colour underwear she wore and on which day" Paul chuckled at that last part, "I take it something is in the works since she inherited the company?" Paul asked. "Yeah I just need to get my ducks in a row, I don’t want any surprises later", at that Paul agreed " You got it man will get you whatever you need, give me a few days and I'll get back to you with the info although I doubt I will find much she's always been a good girl", with that they bid goodbye. Logan knew Mia was always a good girl but he still had this uneasy feeling he couldn't shake that Mia was hiding something but racking his mind trying to figure it out wasn't going to help him so he decided to take a shower and sleep and will wait to hear from Paul.

In the morning Logan went back New York and decided to get some work done and go to meetings he had rescheduled, Christian came by the office before he had to fly back to London. "Mr Rexford, Mr..." before Amber could finish announcing Christian he walked right into Logan's office "I don’t need to be announced sweetheart, I am after all one of Rexford Industries CEO's" Christian said with a smile and a wink, Amber blushed as she closed the door to Logan's office. "Hey man, didn’t think to mention you were coming back to New York?" Christian said as he plumed into a chair across from Logan, "Sorry just had too many things in my head I completely forgot and besides the last thing I needed was you telling me what a spectacular mistake Mia and I are making" Logan replied. "Actually I wasn't going to say that at all, I have decided to stay out of your business", Logan chuckled at that statement "really? What brought on your sense of growth?" He asked Logan. Christian thought for a second "well I believe you and Mia are adults and I should allow you to make your mistakes, I just hope you don’t do too much damage to her. She's not like your girls you know, Mia is a good girl and she cares about people and I just hope you don’t break her like you did..." before Christian could finish his sentence the intercom in Logan's office went on letting him know his next appointment is here. "Look you don’t have to worry about that, I wont hurt Mia on the contrary I happen to really care about her and would hope we can make this work and build a life together", Christian huffed "Okay I should get out of hair I have to get back to London, and by the way I plan to hold you to that" and Christian took his leave. Logan asked for a minute before his next appointment came in.

After a few days Mia had moved to New York, Logan hadn't seen her yet and he wasn't in a hurry to see her either. He was still waiting for the report from Paul and he would prefer to be prepared before he saw her so he would know what he was dealing with. Logan always found it difficult to trust, he might have grown up a rich kid but he had his own trials and tribulations like anyone else and more than a few regrets so he found it difficult to trust people especially women. Being betrayed by your own mother does f**k up a boy a little, when you get older the wound by not be visible but it's still there. Paul finally called Logan to let him know he will swing by the office to give him the report on Mia and Logan was thrilled because he really wanted to get this over with. Paul arrived at Logan's office during lunch hour so most of the office was empty "Hey man, how you doing?" Paul asked Logan, with a sigh Logan replied "I'm good man, so what do you have for me?" Replied Logan. "Well" Paul sighed and Paused, "That bad huh?" Logan asked Paul, Paul chuckled "No man, you should see your face right now you look like someone just took a s**t in your coffee. It's fine man the girl is clean, no red flags anywhere not even a parking ticket. She lives a pretty normal and boring life for the daughter of a billionaire but like I said to you before Mia is a saint" Logan was very relieved to hear that, he had no idea what he would've done if this conversation went a differently, he thanked Paul and handed him and envelope full of cash to keep this off the records, turns out it doesn’t look good when you investigate your future wife. Paul left and Logan read the file Paul gave him, by the looks of it Mia didn't have much of a social life I mean yeah she went clubbing a few times but it looks like most events she attended were work stuff, no current boyfriend in fact she's been single for more than a year and none of her relationships had lasted long. She has a big circle of friends mostly from work or school and then there is Christian, lots of pictures of Mia and Christian at restaurants, the club, on campus and even outside her apartment building. Most were innocent pictures of them sitting and talking or taking a walk and then there is one picture taken the day she went back to London, they were standing outside her building and Christian was holding her hand and kissing Mia on the forehead. It looked so intimate and everyone knows about the forehead I mean who never watched The best man, It is the most intimate of intimate moments. Logan felt like he could punch something or someone. He decided to take the rest of the day off and go work off his frustrations on one of his girls, he knew Genevieve was in New York for a shoot so he called her and later left to go to her hotel but Genevieve wasn’t just any girl.

Genevieve Ivanov the daughter of billionaire aristocrat Boris Ivanov part of the Russia Mafia family, Genevieve was one of the few people in Logan's life he actually trusted conditionally of course but trusted non the less she was a European Model and actress, Logan met Genevieve when he was in college when he was at Paris fashion week. They immediately clicked and Logan invited Genevieve to come to New York and so she did and stayed with him for about a month before having to get back to her real life in Europe. Logan was going through a lot when he met Genevieve and she was the only person he let help him and because of that Logan trusts her, according to the world Logan and Genevieve are having an affair but in reality they are just friends. Logan got to the hotel and went to Genevieve's room, she was staying in the penthouse on the top floor. He knocked twice and she opened the door "Logan hi" Geneviève said as she draped her hands around Logan's neck "I have missed you mon amour" Geneviève continued, Logan smiled and replied "I missed you too mon Cheri". They both headed to the balcony and sat near the pool, Logan was quiet for a while and just looking at the view, Genevieve was never one to push she knew Logan would talk when he was ready to so she simply offered him some scotch and sat down next to him. "So what are you shooting this time" Logan asked Genevieve, she replied with a genuine smile "Nothing actually I just thought it has been a while since I was in New York and I really wanted to see you, you are always too busy to come visit me tu m'as vraiment manqué mon amour". Logan always felt a sense of peace when he was around Genevieve and that was one of the reasons he let her in and so deep into his life, Logan sighed and with that he finally replied "I'm glad you're here Gen, you always have impeccable timing it's like you know exactly when I need you", Genevieve smile at Logan's endearment he was the only one who ever called her Gen "I told you I was psychic" she said with a serious look and then they both burst out laughing. This was the first time in a long time Logan ever laughed like this, the only other person who brings out this side of him was Mia and so Logan told Genevieve everything.

Genevieve was not happy about Logan's current situation but she also understood that he has had feelings for Mia since childhood but never did anything about it, and this might be a little crazy but it's still doing something. Before it got too late Logan left the hotel and called Mia to meet him at a bar near her apartment, he sat there for a while waiting for her. Mia walked in look as beautiful as always, she wore a pair of tight skinny Jean's, a black t-shirt with a V-neck that dips low enough to see her cleavage with a rock band picture on the front, a black leather jacket, thigh high 6 inch black boots. Mia had full curves and small waist so she filled out her Jean's pretty well. Logan didnt stop looking at her from the moment she walked into the bar till she sat down in front of him, Logan got up and kissed Mia on the cheek "Hi" he said "You look beautiful as always" Logan said with a smile. Mia was blushing and her face turned a bit red "Hi Logan, you don’t look too bad yourself. What's going on when you called it sounded like an emergency" Mia asked Logan, "No, no emergency I just thought it would be good to start being seen together in public and to familiarize ourselves with each other so we would be more comfortable living together, not that we aren't comfortable now" Logan felt a little nervous, they ordered and talked for a while and later Logan dropped Mia off at her apartment.

After courting Mia for two months Logan was ready to make this official, the man hadn't had s*x since Mia came into the picture and he really needed this wedding to happen and fast. Logan planned a proposal on the empire state building, he knew there was no need to go all out but he did anyway. He planned to be in this marriage for life and would love to tell his kids in the future how he proposed to their mother so Logan with the help of Alex went all out, a dinner table draped with white linen cloth, two chairs, champagne stand, a personal chef to prepare their meal, candles all over and rose petals and Rose's. Logan was quite pleased with himself, he wore a black fitted Armani Tuxedo with Loafers. Mia arrived at the building and she looked like a vision wearing a beautiful red long Marc Jacob's gown, when Logan saw her he surely stopped breathing. They went to sit down and have dinner and dessert with some champagne, when it was time Logan had set up a small orchestra to play music and they started playing one of Mia's favourite compositions and at that moment Logan got down to one knee and proposed to her. He had a Three stone engagement ring made from platinum with 3.50ct brilliant cut centre diamond with two pear cut diamonds on the side. It was the most beautiful thing Mia had ever seen and she was crying, after she said yes and he slipped the ring on her finger he kissed her very passionately and for moment they both forgot about the circumstances in which they were getting married, this was a night none of them would ever forget mostly because it was all on video and circulating the internet already. But none of them cared about that because for that moment they were genuinely happy and forgot about the outside world.
