I blinked and stirred as my eyes fluttered open. Sun rays hit me making me flinch. I tried to sit up but it seemed like the weight of the whole world was on me. Sharp pains protested through my body as my head throbbed painfully. My mind was foggy and my body ached badly. I was greeted by an eerie silence and sat up immediately. I looked around taking in the room I currently lay in. It was decorated in cool, gray tones. There were pieces of abstract art on the walls, two cozy lamps on each side of the bed, a table, and a chair. It was simple overall and it reflected Alexander’s serious nature. As my senses returned slowly, I realized I was in Alexander’s home. Not a single sound was heard and I wondered where he could be. I got up and smiled at the image of him in my head. His ethereal presence and oh those eyes, icy grey spheres which looked deeply into my soul and captivated me even as a child. Standing by the window, overlooking the lush green grass below, memories of my past encounter with him came flooding back and my heart began to race. I had met him that fateful night, ten years ago beside the stream. I was just ten years old and he had tucked my hair behind my ears with an emotion 10-year-old me was too young to understand. He had not said a word to me but had handed me a blood vial pendant. Before I could muster any word to say, he had disappeared and I was left confused but flustered by the stream doing laundry. Back then, he had been my wildest fantasy filling me with insatiable want and need. But when I didn’t get my wolf at sixteen, those dreams withered and died. Then Oliver came along, loving me. I’d surrendered to my fate, writing Alexander off as a mere dream, one I couldn’t attain, and hoping that Oliver would fill the void in my heart. Snapping out of my thoughts, anxiety gnawed at me as I remembered Oliver’s condition. I scrambled to my feet, my eyes scanning the room, looking for an exit. I walked out the door and was welcomed into a grand corridor but Alexander was nowhere in sight. I kept on walking through the grand halls admiring its majesty. I was soon lost in the maze of hallways and I slumped exasperated. I couldn’t give up though and I got back on my feet. Soon enough, I stumbled onto a path and decided to follow it. I was led to a celestial pool and the sight before me took my breath away. There Alexander was in all his glory soaking in the pool. Noticing my presence, he turned to me letting me bask in his godly presence. I swallowed as he slowly emerged from the water and then my words hooked on my throat. He looked like a Greek god, his powerful frame glistening with droplets. His biceps bulged as he stepped out of the pool, naked. I couldn't help but stare, my eyes tracing the outline of his body. Calmly, he reached for a robe and draped it over himself. My cheeks burned as I looked away, I had seen the bulge in between his legs. He knew the effect he had on me and he smirked, enjoying my nervousness. "You're worried about your boyfriend, hmm?" He stated, his deep baritone voice sending a shiver down my core. I nodded, my voice caught in my throat. I was lost for words. I knew I looked foolish with the way I’d been drooling him over him this whole time and tried to get a hold of myself. I was so lost in my little world that I didn't know when he held out a small vial filled with a shimmering liquid in front of my face. "This is ....." He paused watching me closely. "A universal antidote. It will save him." Then he rolled his eyes as I stared blankly at him."Your little sweetheart." Immediately my eyes widened and my heart leaped with joy, but my joy was short-lived as his next words left me confused. “It's not for free my darling, you must come back after saving him." He gave out a thin smile. "Why?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Alexander leaned closer to me and his eyes seemed to bore into my soul, the intensity of which sent cold shivers down my spine and I began to fiddle. "I may be able to help you find your wolf, hmm." He hummed ignoring my question. While I stood there staring at him, Alexander transformed into his wolf, his eyes gleaming. He had the most gorgeous wolf I’d ever seen. His wolf was covered with shiny silvery fur, the same color as his hair and his eyes were even a more piercing grey. He approached me slowly and I stood transfixed, forgetting how to breathe for a moment. I stood dumbstruck admiring his large, breathtaking wolf. Gently he tapped the middle of my brows with his snout, and almost immediately, a sudden warmth spread through me. That one touch awoke something dormant in me, a wolf, sleeping but very much alive. He stepped aside and then he shifted back. “Thank you” I breathed. He hummed in response and then there was an awkward silence. I was overwhelmed by everything that was happening, especially Alexander’s request that I return. I couldn't figure out why he needed me or whether if I left my pack I would become a rogue. Alexander wouldn’t say anything to me and sat still like a statue, watching me. The realization that I'd been away for four days slammed into me and I broke out of my reverie. Oliver was getting worse and I had to leave immediately. “I-I will honor your demands. I will be back” I promised. My heart was heavy with mixed emotions, gratitude, apology, and a strange blush from our recent interactions. Alexander did not offer a reaction but I knew he heard me. Turning around, I noticed him narrowing his eyes at me but I ignored it, sprinting out of his presence and navigating my way through his corridors with the antidote tucked away safely. As I departed the mountain, my emotions were a mess and my stomach was tied into a knot. I prayed Oliver was okay and nothing had happened to him. Three days later, it was nighttime when I returned to the pack. My anxiety was at an all-time high as I raced to the pack house. But as I got closer, instead of the somber mood I had left behind, I was met with an air of celebration. The pack members' laughter and cheers filled me with a sinking feeling. Something had happened in my absence. "What's going on?" I asked a pack member, my voice laced with confusion. The member's smile shook slightly, her eyes darting away. "The new Luna has received the Moon Goddess's blessing. She has miraculously awakened the alpha." She cheered. My head spun and my heart beat in an uncontrollable frenzy. Suddenly, I felt dizzy and nauseous. “Who is the new Luna?"I asked in a shaky voice. The smile on the girl's face returned and I blankly stared at her while she gave me the shocking news that almost sent me to the other life. "The new Luna is your sister Meredith.” Her words hit me like a slap in the face. No, Oliver wouldn’t do this to me. Turning away from her, I sprinted madly into the pack house.
