The blizzard raged on, threatening to consume me whole.
I had been walking for the past three days non-stop and every step I took seemed like my last.
My head was throbbing badly and my legs began to tremble beneath me like fragile twigs about to snap under the weight of my exhaustion.
It was so cold and the snowflakes pierced my skin like a thousand arrows.
I remembered when I had announced I would be seeking Alexander. Everyone was shocked and thought I’d gone crazy.
“This is not some joke little girl, do you understand the implications of your words?” Elder Jasper eyed me.
“You don’t possibly intend to-“ He was interrupted by Alpha Damian.
“Seraphina here has offered to seek out King Alexander. She shall set out at dawn and if successful, proves herself and would be marked as the Luna. The whole pack was thrown into commotion and there was serious murmuring at his words.
I knew then they had never believed that I could do it in a million years and I was determined to prove my worth to them.
Here I was three days later climbing the mountains despite the raging blizzard without rest, food, or water. The exhaustion had taken a huge toll on me and I was on the verge of collapsing.
My mind, however, refused to surrender. I was driven by the haunting image of Oliver– poisoned and unconscious. If he died, I was done for.
As I approached the ancient fortress of the Lycan King, Alexander Moonborn. My heart began to race wildly and my vision began to blur.
I felt my consciousness slipping away but I could not give up at this crucial point. I tightened my grip on the blood vial pendant and walked on.
It had been ten long years and I hoped he hadn’t forgotten me.
The howling wind slowly died away, replaced by a wild silence. It was as if the raging storm itself was calmly holding its breath in anticipation of my doom.
And just then my eyes landed on him, the dreaded Lycan king, Alexander Moonborn standing before me in all his ethereal glory.
Our gaze locked into each other and I could hear my heart thrumming loudly.
His piercing eyes were so strikingly grey and they gazed into mine, threatening to steal my soul away.
His long silver hair stopped just below his neck and was slicked back neatly. His gaze was piercing, his nose sharp and his jawline chiseled.
His beauty left me struck and breathless. I forgot my exhaustion temporarily and just gazed at him dumbstruck.
He looked exactly as he had twelve years ago.
Nothing had changed. He was looking as handsome, tall, and regal as ever.
He was a memory that had both haunted and comforted me. The image of an otherworldly man with an intense gaze and sensual lips which had made me do sinful things to myself. I flushed and looked away from him.
“Alexander” I breathed, my voice barely above a whisper.
"So long Seraphina .' He said in an icy tone.
"To what do I owe this visit?"
I swallowed as I stared up at him. His voice- it did things to me, things I couldn’t say out loud but this was not the time for fantasies.
"I need your help please, Blueblood pack needs you."my words tumbled out in a desperate plea.
"What for ?" He replied, his eyes never leaving mine.
“The- the Alpha he’s sick. I-he..” I stuttered, trying to mask my motives, I couldn’t let him know I was here for my boyfriend but I just couldn’t concentrate with his grey eyes boring into my soul.
"I am here because the Alpha is sick and only you hold the cure" I lied through clenched teeth.
A few minutes passed but Alexander said nothing, seemingly seeing through me.
His eyes narrowed, and his expression hardened, forcing me to admit the truth.
"Fine. I'm here because my boyfriend, the Alpha’s son is dying and you are the only one that can save him." I admitted, my voice breaking as tears stung my eyes.
Alexander’s jaw clenched and his fists clenched into balls at my words. He eyed me with distaste, his voice low and menacing when he spoke.
"Where have you been for the past twelve years?" He spat, his words dripping with irritation and annoyance so much that I flinched.
Unconsciously, I began to shiver, and even though I tried to say something, a knot formed in my stomach, and the words refused to come out.
Dread washed through me and I hoped he wouldn't turn his back on me.
As if reading my mind, Alexander sneered, his icy expression a contrast to the flames of anger that burned in his eyes.
"I will not help you," He declared turning away abruptly leaving me to face the raging blizzard alone.
"Please, Alexander." I cried ."Please I beg you, don't do this to me, don't turn your back on me."
All that met my words was silence. Then he began to walk away, not sparing me a second glance.
This wasn't the Alexander I knew ten years ago, but what did I expect? I had disappeared and broken my promise to him. Surely the moon goddess had turned her back on me too.
This just wasn't happening to me.
Tears stung at my eyes as my mind drifted to Oliver. Without Alexander’s help, he was going to die. Oliver was the only light in my dim life, only he stood by me when others forsook me.
If he becomes the next Alpha and I his Luna, things will change for me. I would never have to worry again.
I just couldn't bear it, I couldn't bear the thought of losing Oliver.
I ran after Alexander but he refused to pay me any attention.
"Alexander, please, I beg you."
I was already consumed by fatigue and the world was already spinning before my eyes.
I was standing behind him now and I reached out towards him as my eyes began to close.
As my consciousness began to slip away from me, I felt myself falling backward but instead of the cold, hard ground, I was caught in a pair of strong arms. I found myself in a warm embrace. A familiar scent enveloped me, wild and powerful like a forest after a storm. It soothed me and I felt safe, instantly.
He sighed something which sounded like a mixture of exasperation and concern.
“Foolish little wolf, what am I going to do with you?" he murmured, cradling me.
And then, I slipped into nothingness.
