Christian laid flat on the floor still reeling from the pains of the jab he had just received.
He was hit by Jonas Rodriquez, Alejandra's senior brother.
Jonas bent over and said that is what will happen.
"That is a little, just a pinch of what will happen if you ever hurt my sister", he smiled then walked away.
Alejandra's senior brothers never approved of his relationship with Alejandra.
"That's how all elder brothers behave", Christian thought to himself.
"He didn't need to do that though".
"I will never hurt Alejandra. At least not intentional".
He loved her with all his might and he will do anything to see her back.
"Hey boy", the voice of his father General Dillard, jolted him back to the present time from his deep thoughts.
"How are you doing", his father asked, "and how is she?"
"She's fine Dad, It was just a scar", Christian replied.
"I thought I had lost her", he said.
"You would have some serious explaining to do when you get home", General Dillard said.
And then he walked over to meet Mr. Rodriquez and began to have a deep discussion with him.

After a few minutes, Christian was allowed in to see Alejandra.
His palms were sweating from nervousness as he walked towards the door.
Immediately he entered the room, Alejandra turned to see who was at the door and smiled at seeing him.
Her mom had already closed up the shop at the library and come to see her and seated by her at the bedside.
"Hey Christian, how are you doing?" Mrs. Rodriguez said with a smile on her face.
"I'm fine, thank you ma".
"Hope you are good?" He asked in return.
"We all are, at least our minds are at rest now that she's okay", Mrs. Rodriguez said smiling.
"I will leave you too to spend some time alone before Javier comes back".
That was exactly what they both wanted to hear at that moment.
They smiled at each other as Mrs. Rodriguez stepped out of the room and Christian sat beside her and took hold of her palm.
"How are you baby?" He asked as he carries her tenderly.
"I'm fine babe", she said with a smile.
"Hope you didn't say anything to my dad or my mum about what happened?" She asked with a little frown on her face.
"No! Definitely not".
"I did not say anything to them".
"But I was worried babe! I thought I had lost you!" Christian said.
She smiled back at him, glad at the thought and side of him being scared to lose her.
Just at the moment, Christian carried her thumb where he had cut her. It was completely healed.
He looked at her in shock and asked, "how is this possible, Babe?".
I know I cut you and there isn't a scar on your thumb.
"Why does this always happen?" He asked and wondered at her.
"I have no idea", Alejandra replied.
"It just happened".
"But what really happened to me?" She asked.
"I have no idea".
"It was as if you were possessed or something".
"I was so scared and then you slumped".
"Also when we brought you to the hospital, the doctor said the machine malfunctioned because it was like you died and your heart stopped working".
"Then suddenly it began working again".
"The only explanation the doctor could offer was that it was a malfunction", Christian said.
Alejandra had a chippy smile on her face.
"You keep saying the doctor, the doctor, why don't you just say 'my mum''.
"You are being so formal about this", she said.
Christian smiled back at her, "yeah, my mum was so scared, everyone was scared and we are glad to have you back".
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"I'm feeling very fine. I don't feel sick at all. In fact I feel more alive".
At that moment, Mr. Javier, Alejandra's father, and General Dillard walked into the room.
Christian immediately let go of Alejandra's hand, for the fear of Javier not being particularly okay with it then.
"Don't worry Christian", Javier said with a smile, "she's fine now and I'm sorry about my little episode outside".
"I was just scared I was going to lose my daughter,'' he said.
"It's fine Sir, we were all scared and we are glad she's back".
After a few hours of monitoring, Alejandra was discharged and they all went home.
************************************************************************
Christian drove himself home, he pondered on the events of the past few hours.
There were so many loose ends that he could not quite put together.
Especially the fact that Alejandra's hand healed so quickly.
He was also glad it did and he would have had to explain why both their hands were cut as his mother noticed on his thumb, while he was at the hospital.
Suddenly a car double-crossed him and jolted him out of his thoughts as he drove, he immediately stepped on the brake to prevent his car from running into theirs.
"Damn!" He thought to himself.
It was Alejandra's brothers. The four of them got down from the car and walked angrily towards his own.
Christian knew he was in trouble. He immediately activated the central lock of his car and whined up.
They began to knock on the door.
"Come out here boy!" Jonas said in anger.
"I've warned you that if anything should happen to my sister I was going to deal with you and you didn't l?" He asked in anger.
Christian knew he was in deep trouble. "It's not what you guys think", he said with fear in his eyes.
He was a well-built and strong young man but he was no match for four guys at a time especially Jason who was built like a wrestler.
He usually wondered where the Rodriguez family got their strength from. They were just out of this world.
Sometimes it seemed like they had to restrain themselves from showing their real strength.
They walked around his car banging at the sides as they try to settle him and make him come down.
Christian was so scared, then a savior arrived, the Sheriff! The whoop of his siren got the attention of the Rodriguez brothers who calmed down from their agitation.
Sheriff Hayley came down from his car and walked towards him smiling.
"Good day boys, how are you all doing?" He said.
"We are fine Sheriff", they all responded.
"I hope all is well", he said.
"Yes sheriff, there's nothing to see here", Jason said with a frown on his face.
"Then why is your car parked across the road?" he asked.
When they couldn't offer an answer, Sheriff Haley walked to the drivers side and gesticulated that Christian lowered the windows of the car.
"Are these boys giving you any trouble?" He asked with a straight face.
"Christian shook his head", still scared about the repercussions if he told the truth.
The nervous way in which he shook his head was already told the whole story.
The Sheriff smiled and turned to them. "Since there's nothing to see here, I suggest that you boys get into your car and be on your way", he said to them.
They reluctantly obeyed and entered their car.
The tires of their car swished as they zoomed off at a high speed.
The Sheriff walked back to where Christian was and said, "take care of yourself man and be careful around here".
"You can be on your way", he said.
"Thank you Sheriff", Christian said with relief on my face
Christian started the engine of his car and drove off.
He made sure to avoid the usual route that he would normally take for fear of the Rodriguez brothers lying in wait for him.
