Aurora's spine arched outwards, ripping her clothes to shreds. Her screams turned into an animalistic gurgle, and then afterwards, Aurora let out a growl. Under the moonlight, Aurora lay there on the dirt and grass in her wolf form. The white fur of hers was stained with blood. Aurora had finally shifted into her wolf form, and what better time to do this than when she had an attacker on her heels? However, there was a great problem. Aurora's wolf was weak. It was very well known that the first time a person shifts into their wolf form, they have extraordinary strength at the beginning. This was not the case for Aurora. Her wolf was weak, she didn't even have the strength to howl. Aurora stood on all fours, acclimatising to her new form. She took a few unsteady steps before gaining her proper balance. She looked around, and everything seemed different; her vision was heightened. She looked down at her fur and stared at it for a while; memories of the past flooded her head; her father was a white-furred wolf as well.
The low, guttural growl of her attacker jolted her out of her reverie. She trashed around, looking for a good spot to lie low and hide. She wasn't in the right frame of mind, so she only made clumsy attempts at this. The growls intensified and heightened, leaving Aurora scared out of her wits. In the blink of an eye, a dark brown wolf walks slowly into the line of view of Aurora. This was her attacker, he growled at her, barring his sharp fangs at her. Aurora knew she had no other option but to fight. She also barred her fangs at him. This seemed to infuriate him because he started to growl and salivate as if he had gone rabid. In no time, he charged at Aurora. He launched himself forward, landing a strong blow across her face. She landed on the ground with a great thud, leaving room for him to pounce on her. He launched another blow on Aurora, but she was quick enough to avoid it. She, on the other hand, made a counterattack and aimed for his side, tearing him open with her claws. He let out a howl, indicating his pain, before launching at Aurora.
He ran with all his might and used all his body weight to knock Aurora to the ground. This time, he successfully got on top of her, overpowering and inflicting injuries on her. He scratched and cut her with his claws. Aurora let out painful groans and growls. Her wolf was too weak and too fragile for the seasoned wolf of her attacker. She just lay there, taking in every blow, every scratch and every bite. Aurora couldn't understand why her wolf was weak; she panicked in her head and pleaded with the moon goddess to give her strength. The fact was that, because of Rowan's action of marking Aurora and then breaking the sacred bond, Aurora was left weak and vulnerable, and so was her wolf. She tried tirelessly to claw back at her attacker and cause some damage to him, but her efforts were to no avail.
When Aurora was on the verge of losing consciousness, her attacker stopped abruptly. He stepped over her, looking this way and that. Out of the corner of her eye, Aurora spotted another huge wolf making an appearance. The two wolves exchanged looks for a while, and now Aurora understood what they were doing; they were mind-linking. They both stopped what they were discussing and started walking towards Aurora. Aurora, noticing that the danger she was in had doubled, let out a piercing howl. This was her first howl since she shifted. Both wolves were taken aback and caught off guard by this. On recollecting themselves, Aurora's first attacker launched forward again, trying to draw blood. He was about to go in for a fatal bite on her neck but was suddenly sent flying.
Aurora's eyes fluttered open, and she saw a huge black-furred wolf which was twice her size towering over her. He let out a howl, which cut through the silence of the night before diving in the direction of Aurora's attackers. Aurora heard the growling and groaning of all three wolves, but she couldn't move a muscle. Rather, she felt a tingling sensation course through her veins. It was a familiar sensation, almost as if she had felt it before. Her heart was racing, and she became restless, thrashing about on the ground in a frenzy. Aurora was so caught up in this unexplainable feeling that she hadn't realised that the new black wolf had fought off both of her attackers. The black wolf walked up to her line of sight. This made Aurora trash about the more. It seemed as though there was some kind of force around him that Aurora was reacting to. He looked at Aurora's injured body, turning his head this way and that, examining her injuries. He placed his paw on Aurora's injured left side.
As soon as he placed his paw on her injury, he removed it almost immediately, stepping back as if he had been burned. Aurora, on the other hand, went into a state of hyperventilation as it finally dawned on her that she remembered why the sensation felt so familiar. At the full moon celebration, when Rowan had bumped into her, spilling his drink on her dress, she had felt the same way. Aurora shifted back into her human form, bloodied, naked and shivering from the cold, but all of that didn't seem to faze her. She stared at the majestic black wolf who had just saved her, and who she was now getting all hot and flustered for all of a sudden. The wolf, on the other hand, stood still and stared at Aurora. Then she heard it, the voice was loud and very clear, "mate". Her head spun, and she began to feel dizzy. This couldn't be; she had already been rejected by her fated mate. She continued to stare at the wolf, who was now walking towards her. "Mate", that was the last word she heard before drifting off into unconsciousness.
