I Died When She Saved Me

How? How did I ever forget what will happen today? I’m too focus on making a slight difference and to gain more knowledge about that energy drink that I forget something more important. I forget that in my previous life I will be killed on this exact date and time.

“E-Ethan no, p-please don’t this. I-I’ll date you now. I-I promise I won’t reject you again. J-just please let me live. I’m b-begging you.”

But it looks like Ethan can’t understand or hear what I’m saying. He looks like he loses the capability to think just like other people who were under the influence of Neurons. 

“Io, why do you keep rejecting me? Don’t you find me attractive, eh? I’m handsome, everyone adores me! Everyone wanted to be with me and you, always say shits on my face and always shoved me away! But tonight, I've had enough! I’ll make you f*****g mine only tonight!”

“E-Ethan I-I’m sorry if I always shoved you away. I’m really sorry! Please give me another chance. Please”

I closed my eyes in fear and tried to push him as I felt his body pushing against mine.

I already mumbled every prayer I know in my mind, begging God to please save me tonight.

I felt his breath getting close to my face, then he suddenly tore my blouse away from my body making the buttons fly freely in the air.

I can feel my hot tears rolling down my face.

I know, crying won’t do any good. It won’t make a difference but I can’t do anything to stop this. Crying is the only thing that I can do. 

“What do you think are you doing young man?”

Ethan stops what he’s doing, giving me space to breathe, and looks back to the guy who speaks. It was the same 2 policemen in my previous life. They are pointing their guns at Ethan as if they are sort of a hero that will save me from hell. 

Everything- Everything is happening just like in my previous life. They will pretend that they’re going to save me but in fact, they will just make my life more hellish.

With all my remaining strength, instead of running towards the policemen’s direction, I ran in the opposite direction which instantly shocks them all. The policemen maybe expected me to run in their directions and beg them to help me. 

I already did that in my previous life and there's no way I'll make the same mistake twice. 

I hear them telling me to stop running but I never stop nor look back. I know the two policemen are holding guns and there’s the possibility that they will shoot me. But the fact is, if my life will end tonight, I prefer it to end by guns not to be r***d then murdered.

I ran as far as I can to try to get away from them as far as possible.

I finally see a light coming from an establishment, I can finally get out of this dark alley when a tall girl suddenly covers my vision and I collided with her, sending my a*s down to the ground.

That f*****g hurts.

“Finally you stopped woman.”

I felt my body shivered just by hearing that voice. I look back and I’m not wrong, they really catch up on to me and they’re smiling at me evilly while staring lustfully at my chests covered only by a black b*a.

“What the hell do you need from her?”

I look back at the girl who just got up on the ground and dusted off herself. She looked back at me and offered her hands to help me stand up.  

“Take my hand.”

She said and smiled at me sweetly. She’s the same girl that I kept bumping my shoulders on and the girl who once saved me from a furious car coming towards my direction.

Just looking at her face smiling sweetly at me, makes me felt safe, assured that nothing bad will happen to me.

I took her hand and she pulled me to stand then hug me, securing me every part of my body.

“Leave her alone.”

Her expression suddenly changes, from a soft and smiling face, it became hard and frightening.

“Oh come on, this guy and that girl are just having love quarrel. Stop minding other people’s businesses.”

One of the guys in a policeman uniform cockily said and point his hand to Ethan and me.

Ethan didn’t speak, he just kept his cold stare at me.

The girl felt that my body was trembling not only because of the situation I'm in but also because of the cold wind hitting my bare body.

The girl slightly pushes me to take off of her sweatshirt, leaving her only in a black tank top then she held it out to me.

“It has some sweats on it but it really does not stink. Just bear with it for a moment.”

She said shyly while scratching the back of her head, which for me makes her cuter. I tried not to blush but I failed as I really found her cute.

This doesn’t smell any sweats. What sweats is she talking about?

The sweatshirt was pretty big for me but it is more than comfortable.

“Lend us the girl.”

Ethan said with fury in his tone.

I felt fear hearing him say that so I stand behind the girl while eyeing the situation.

“It doesn’t look like they are lovers in a quarrel. It’s more like a crime was about to occur seeing her half-n***d and sensing her fear on the three of you. Isn't that right?”

The girl looks back at me, waiting for a confirmation from. Due to fear, I only nod.

“Of course, I’m right.”

“If you don’t want to get hurt why do you just mind your own businesses and leave us alone?”

“Two of them have guns.”

The girl’s friend whispered to her.

“Wait for my signal to run with her.”

The girl whispered back on her friend.

“No, there’s no way I’ll leave you here. I’ll fight with you.”

“Treant, just listen to me.”

“No Rylai, you listen to me. How can you fight them in that state? You just finished your fights and you look awful. There’s no way you’ll beat them.”

Hearing that I reach out for the girl’s arms which has a name Rylai.

“P-please don’t fight them. Their strength is far from humans. You’ll just-”

Rylai put her hand over my head petting it while smiling at me.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be okay.”

Hearing her say that and seeing her expression is enough to shut me off.

“Treant, I’m putting my trust in you. Meet me at the usual place. And please take care of her.”

Treant just sighs accepting defeat and nods.

Rylai looks back at the three, instantly changing her expressions in a cold and frightening one again.

“Even if it costs my life, I will never let you lay your filthy hands on her.”

The three wickedly laugh like it was the funniest thing that they just heard.

“Are you saying that you’ll fight us at that state of yours? You sure are dumb. Our strengths are tripled. Even if that guy helps you. There’s no f*****g way you’ll beat us.”

Rylai didn’t even flinch hearing that. She was too calm and even mocked them with a wicked smile.

“Or maybe I’m.”

Hearing that, we can almost see the nerves of the three on their foreheads, looks like it was going to burst any moment because of fury beating inside them.

“You’ll regret this woman! After we beat you up, we’ll f*****g wreck that v****a of yours then killed you with our bare hands.”

The three laugh out loud again.

“Then, why don’t you try it now?”

Rylai smirked at them which insulted more the three and they all suddenly run towards our direction.

“Now! Run!”

I’m not yet done processing what is happening when suddenly Treant pulled my hand away from there.

“We-”

“Don’t worry about her. Just run.”

I look back at the direction trying to take a look at what’s happening there but failed because we already make it too far and there are too many things and people’s blocking my view.

Please let her be safe.

After running for almost 10 minutes, we stopped in a building that looks like a gym. We didn’t enter because it was locked, we just covered our presence on the side of the building that barely reached by street lights, making us not noticeable.

I tried to catch up my breath, I’m not an athletic person, and I easily get tired. I’m not used to running so that run really drains my remaining strength and seeks support on the wall.

“Hey, are you okay?”

I just nod.

“Just thirsty.”

“Then have this.”

Treant handed me a bottle of water that’s not yet being opened. I gladly took it and take a sip.

“We- We shouldn’t leave her.”

I said between huffs of breaths.

 “Don’t worry she knows what she’s doing.”

“Still. Those guys, they are not humans anymore, they are not worthy to be called human anymore. They have almost like superhuman strength and their mind looks like it was damaged already. They lose the capability to distinguish what’s right and wrong.”

“How can you know that?”

“I-I just know.”

“But still, we still can’t do anything to stop her. Just trust her. She will come here alive and kicking.”

I didn’t reply to what Treant said and just lean my body onto the cold wall.

I’ve never been worried about someone aside from Savy. Maybe it was because she already saves me twice and if she gets killed because of my own stupidity I will never forgive myself.

I closed my eyes and forced myself to be calm. There’s no point panicking now, I’ll believe in her that she will come back alive. That I will see her again, alive and I'll thank her for saving me twice.

We stayed like that for almost 20 minutes. Nobody’s talking but we can feel the nervousness of each other.

“There’s a vehicle coming, duck down.”

Treant said and I obeyed him. My heart was beating so fast in worry that we’ll be caught in another frightening situation.

Treant takes a peek at where the vehicle stop and parks.

My heart felt like it will burst at any moment.

“It’s her.”

Hearing Treant said that I let out a loud sigh of relief and stood up to follow Treant who’s starting to walk closer to Rylai.

“You took so long.”

“They are tougher than they look.”

Rylai said and shifted his eyes on me. I suddenly feel awkward because of her smile. She walks closer to me and put her hands on my two tense shoulders.

“You’re now safe.”

That’s when I only get a closer look at her, the number of her wounds earlier gets higher, she even has a cut on the corner of her lips and it’s bleeding.

Seeing her in that state, made me cry in guilt that I’m the reason why she had wounds and joy that she was still alive.

She hugs me and hushed me. I return her hug, suddenly feeling safe again on her arms.

“Come on. I’ll introduce you to the one who saves me.”

Rylai break free from the hug and pulled me on my arms, heading to the car.

There was a girl standing outside of the car and smiled at us.

“She’s the one who saves me. Her name was Hart. Hart, meet my friend Treant and this girl is,”

She looks back at me waiting for me to mumble my name.

“Io.”

“Nice to meet you two. I think we should continue getting to know each other somewhere safer.”

Hart suggested while looking around.

I agree. Even though no one’s here and we’re safe now but we don’t know until when.

Hart motioned for us to get into her car and even though we barely know each other, we didn’t hesitate to get in.

“Where are we going?”

Treant asked, sitting at the passenger seat.

“We have a vacation house 30 minutes’ drive from here. I think we’ll be safe there because that’s far from the city.”

Suddenly, I felt my eyelids getting heavy. Maybe a sign that my body was now begging for a rest.

“Are you feeling sleepy? You can sleep on my shoulder.”

Rylai asked while looking softly at me.

“N-no. I’m good.”

“Come on I know you are. Sleep on my shoulder. You'll be safe on my arms.”

Rylai put her arm around my shoulder and put my head on it.

The instant that my head get in contact with her shoulder, I fell asleep.

I don’t know why or how but I really felt so safe with her.
