Amara Our tent stands deep in the ice sheets of Greenland. Doctor Eddie and I are environmental researchers currently conducting a study regarding the impact of global warming on the frozen ice caps. Right after Gonzalo kissed me, he passed out. I called for Eddie’s help and brought the werewolf to our tent. “Fascinating. I can’t believe it’s happening before my eyes,” Eddie said while sitting next to me as we observed Gonzalo. “This is against all my beliefs, but for some reason, I have no choice but to accept it's real. He’s remarkable.” I replied to Eddie. Gonzalo’s covered in my blanket—I can still see his nude body print hiding underneath. “The world offers truth beyond human compression. Our world hides a lot of secrets after all,” Eddie said before leaving to make a call. When no one was looking, I felt his warm arms with my touch. I’m trembling deep inside— not with fear but with the unexplained warmth inside that I feel for Gonzalo. He caught my attention after he started making distressful sounds. In a low muffled noise—he’s suffering a nightmare. I laid my head on his chest, my face looking at his. “It’s going to be fine. Trust me, it’s going to be fine,” I whispered to him. My voice, seemingly soothed him as he stopped and dozed off again. I watched him for a moment, and next thing I knew, I fell asleep laying my head on his chest. Boom! A loud explosion awakens me, something’s happening outside. “Eddie,” I blurted out. Concerned. I glanced at Gonzalo before I rushed outside to see if Eddie was doing okay. What the!? What creature is this? A lengthy black coat with burnt edges—clothes worn by a woman with such a disfigured face. She has long sharp nails with black ink that covers her entire hands. I looked to the side and saw Eddie lying on the cold ground visibly in pain—he was a few distances away from the tent. “Amara! Hide!” I didn’t listen. I ran quickly towards him—still, I was clueless of what was going on. “Look who we have here, Oh-,” The weird looking lady sounded so diabolical. “A filthy werewolf!? Was it you!? No, it’s not. The scent is stronger coming from in here,” She looks at the tent—she figured something out. She added, “I thought we'd killed every last one of these filthy animals.” “What is happening!? What is that woman going to do!?” My fight and flight response kicked in. I helped Eddie get back on his feet—I looked at him desperately for answers. In seriousness, he said, “whatever happens, promise you’ll still trust me.” Clueless. Subtly panicking. I told him, “O... okay? What are you going to do?” He pulled me behind him and pointed his index and middle finger to the creepy lady, “Antipátheia!” A small ball of concentrated energy came out of his fingers and struck the lady away from the tent. I’m frozen in shock witnessing what Eddie had just done. I exclaimed, “Eddie, how did you do that!?” He faced me, still, he was pressing on his injured abdomen, “Amara, my child. I’m a sorcerer.”
