Gigiana came to a small brook and crouched to drink from it. The sun was climbing high into the sky and she was feeling hungry. Her lips were cracked and her eyes sank back into her head. She sat under the shade of a huge tree. She wondered where she was going. Her feet hurt and she felt she was already beginning to smell. On second thought, she took off her clothes and dipped into the more secluded part of the brook to have her bath. Despite the heat of the sun, the water was soothingly cool. She gasped as the water passed gently over her skin.
