I finally faced her. Her blue eyes were wide as her mouth dropped slightly. She was speechless. Almost stunned into silence. Her eyes searched my face as the silence stretched. She waited with bated breath as I herald a battle within myself.
Do I tell her the truth? I mean I already did admit to it but she wanted absolute confirmation. I could play it off as a joke. A slip of the tongue type of situation.
But there was a certain look in her eye. Almost as if…she wanted what I said to be true. She didn’t rush me to answer but it was clear that she wanted to hear it. I could lie to her but something inside of me whispered not to. Her face and anticipation pushed me to look away as I whispered, “Yes, I do.”
