I take the document from Aldric's hand.
Not because anyone asks me to. Not because it is the smart move or the strategic move. I take it because it has my name on it and anything with my name on it belongs in my hands before it belongs anywhere else.
Aldric lets me take it. He watches me read it the way someone watches a test they are confident you will fail.
I read it twice. Front and back. Every line.
It is thorough. I will give him that. Pack law citations, precedent references, the original rejection declaration reproduced in full.
