Chapter 63

1564 Words

VERA'S POV The dull throbbing in my head was the first thing I noticed as I stirred awake. Groaning softly, I pressed my hand against my temple, wincing at the sharp pain that radiated through my skull. It didn’t take me long to figure out why I felt this way. I had cried for what felt like hours while talking to Draven earlier. The memories of my past had been like reopening an old wound, and now, I was paying the price, both physically and emotionally. I blinked, taking in the moonlight coming in through the window. Night had already fallen. I must have been asleep for a while. Turning my head, I realized the bed beside me was empty. Draven was gone. My chest tightened as I sat up. How long had he been gone? And where had he gone to? Why must that man always disappear on me like this?
