VERA'S POV The car hummed softly as it moved. I sat in the back, staring out the window and lost in my thoughts. The sky was gray and heavy this morning, just like my mood. The driver was an annoyingly quiet man, one of the pack warriors that accompanied us to Ashwood. And now he along with a few others were escorting me home. Alone. In silence. They didn’t try to make conversation, which suited me fine. I wasn’t really in the mood to talk, to be honest. I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The morning had been chaotic.
