The room was quiet. I stood by the window, my arms crossed tightly over my chest, as I stared out into the dark forest that seemed to stretch endlessly beyond the Ashwood territory.
Draven had left earlier, saying he needed to speak with Alpha Kael. He’d been vague about the details, but the look on his face had been enough to tell me it wasn’t good. My instincts screamed that something was wrong, but he hadn’t shared much with me. Only that he needed to ask Alpha Kael a few questions. I hated being kept in the dark. Which was exactly what was happening a lot lately.
I was supposed to be asleep by now, but how could I? My mind was full of thoughts. I felt like I was being dragged back to memories I’d buried a long time ago.
