(Eleanor's POV) I slammed the divorce papers down on the marble counter hard enough to make the sound echo through the empty house. Marcus picked them up slowly, like he already knew what was coming. He flipped through them without reading, his jaw tightening with every page, and when he was done he tossed them back on the table like they meant nothing. “I’m not signing it.” Anger cut through me so fast it stole my breath. “Why?” I snapped. “Would you rather I go to jail, Marcus? Is that what you want? For me to rot because of you and Stella?” He looked at me like I was the one who’d gone crazy. “That’s not the point,” he said. “We’re still married. The press already knows. The contract is still binding. There’s no way in hell I’m signing these and letting you walk away to him.”
