CHAPTER 5: Arrived

1137 Words
Bonnie's POV I heard a thud beside me and before I could open my eyes, someone was upon me trying to push a foul smelling cloth into my nose. My reflexes kicked in and I instantly knew that the cloth was covered in chloroform. I stopped breathing and took my time to gain back my senses. Okay. I was in a hospital. I woke up after long because a witch placed a curse on me. Now there's someone on me, trying to possibly kidnap me. I counted to 3 and threw a left hook and knocked the bulky man off of me. There's no way that I'm getting kidnapped so easily. I got up and filled my lungs with the much needed air. As I opened my mouth to shout and call for help, another person appeared behind me and pressed a cloth to my face again. It happened so fast that I accidentally inhaled some of the chemical. I grabbed his wrists and twisted them 180°. He threw himself back and covered his mouth to contain his cries. I shouted loud for help when two more people hurriedly flew in the window through the left side of the room and held me down. One of them grabber my hands and the other pressed another chloroformed cloth on my nose. I'm done with these people seriously. They were like this for a minute or two and when I still didn't breathe it in, the man who previously sat on top of me, punched me in the gut, as a result of which I gasped and breathed in a lot of chemical. Enough to knock me out for at least 8 hours. My eyes started getting hazy and that's when the fourth man removed the cloth. I heard him arguing with the man before. "Boss clearly said he needed her unharmed. She is important for the plan." "What could I have done? She wasn't even breathing in the chemical. Also that b***h deserved the punch for hitting me earlier." I was almost unconscious when I heard some more commotion in the room. I was out like a light. *-*-* Raveena hopped in the jeep. It has been a long and tiring journey to the town. The academy was hidden well from the prying eyes of humans and rightly so. The humid wind blew on her face in the open vehicle. It will be still a long ride until the academy premises come into view. She glanced to her right and saw the driver peeking at her rather curiously. “What is it? You can ask me. I might be an authority but I don’t bite.” The man blushed like a deer caught in headlights. Rave couldn’t help it; she was too straight-forward for her own good. All these years of training has helped her read people to their core. This was the reason the driver kept his mouth shut instead of asking the obvious question. The scar on Raveena’s face was something everyone used to get chatty about. She got it on one of her most dangerous missions when she encountered a rogue hollow. She used to be Romero’s sidekick. The hollow was a stage 5 and she wasn’t even a stage 3 at that time. It was a horrible mismatch. Romero saved her life that day. She was grateful for him to look out for her when she had no family. But despite the scar, Rave was enchantingly beautiful still. Many men had their eyes on her but to her, men weren’t the suitable partner she was looking for. “Pardon me mam, it’s nothing.” Rave suppressed a chuckle. The man was indeed scared. After a couple of hours, the jeep went off track on a mud road. The earth-sy scent of the forest had a calming effect. This was going to be her life for a while until this murder mystery is solved, she thought. After a while, they reached a huge clearing. Although it was still drizzling slightly, the clearing made the rain seem less packed up and paved way for cool but moist breeze to flow through The campus was separated from the forest by large walls. The speciality of the fortress was that human eyes were unable to see the huge structure because of the protective barriers and spells placed on it by various trusted witches and even faeries. The faeries were notorious and tricky creatures and their barriers were unique; they could only be broken by a faerie of the same kin whereas the protective spells placed by a witch can be taken down by the witch of similar or stronger powers. The academy gates opened after a guard came down to the jeep to check and scan the aura of the visitors. As the vehicle entered the campus premises, Rave could see huge clearing that consisted of the academy’s main garden. The layout of the magical school was tactically strong and impressive. Moving ahead was the residence of the faculty and guest quarters that surrounded the other buildings in a circular manner. There were a few restaurants and cafes and other places of everyday use, just like a small market place. Rave remembered the campus map by heart since it hadn’t changed even a bit. She was a student here before being appointed to work for the council. The fond memories washed over the pixie haired agent who was observing her surroundings with deep interest. Then came the school in view, and it was as magnificent as Rave remembered it being. The hostel buildings surrounded the academy ground in a uniform circular pattern. The jeep came to a halt and a few helpers scurried forward from the main gate to help carry the luggage. Although faculty quarters were near the perimeter, she was provided residence, primarily at the girl’s hostels. This was done so that it would be easier for her to carry on the investigation all the while still being responsible for combat sessions for the now senior students. The current chancellor has practically begged her to oversee the combat classes because he was afraid that the quality training was not enough to produce ‘able candidates’ for the mutant community. Also, he was heavily criticised a couple of years ago when another council member visited the academy and saw a few students slacking off. “Who knew, he might be even trying to kiss feet so that I could possibly put in a good word for him back at the council…” she thought. “Look who finally arrived”, announced a familiar voice as she turned to look at the person.
