Chapter 33

_Kaden's POV_ The following night, I set out on patrol again, this time with more determination. The eastern border was quiet as my guards and I moved through the dense forest. The moon hung high in the sky, its light casting long shadows over the trees. Every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig had me on edge, but hours passed, and we found nothing. No rogues. No signs of anyone having passed through recently. Frustration gnawed at me. The rogue who resembled Liam was out there—or so I thought. How could he just vanish? I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, something I was missing. “We have searched every corner of this border, Kaden,” one of the guards, Marcus, said, his voice laced with exhaustion. “There’s no one here.” I nodded, though my frustration burned brighter.
