POV: Damian I have negotiated mergers worth hundreds of millions. The most terrifying document I've ever received cost twenty-five dollars. It was bright pink. Folded neatly. And taped to my apartment door. Across the top, in bold letters, were two words. RULE VIOLATION. I stared at it. Then read it again. Maybe it would become less insulting. It didn't. Resident: Apartment 3B Violation: Unauthorized flower pot placed outside apartment door. Fine: $25. I looked down. A small terracotta flower pot sat beside my welcome mat. Healthy green leaves poked cheerfully into the hallway. I frowned. That wasn't mine. I picked it up. A handwritten card dangled from the stem. For the nicest tenant. Enjoy! No name. Wonderful. I marched downstairs holding the plant like courtroom
