Chapter 8

817 Words

POV: Emma People think managing an apartment building is glamorous. Those people have clearly never argued with a man wearing nothing but a bathrobe over the ownership of a plastic bucket. "I bought it," Mr. Wilson insisted. His neighbor from Apartment 2C folded his arms. "It has my initials on the bottom." "They stand for Wonderful Man." "They stand for Walter Morris." Mr. Wilson squinted. "...That's suspicious." I rubbed my temples. "It belongs to Walter." Mr. Wilson looked genuinely heartbroken. "I've been emotionally attached to that bucket for two weeks." Walter snatched it from his hands with the satisfaction of a man reclaiming a stolen kingdom. "Civilization wins." Mr. Wilson pointed at me. "I expect compensation." "You'll survive." "I'll survive dramatically."
